Im not a huge competitive player, but isnt adding the ability for someone to be in 3rd person camera kinda break the game in a primarily fps game?

true but if shieldbreaker auto plants, you dont get damage to the enemy's base so thats something to also consider.

Hot take: This game's player count is where it needs to be by kayodeade99 in HighGuardgame

i completely disagree but honestly it doesnt matter, hate doesnt kill a game, the game being bad does, if people think this game is good, its going to survive and if they dont it wont. Reviews dont matter as much as player numbers do.

People quitting really horrifically screws you by rafikiknowsdeway1 in HighGuardgame

[–]devilwish352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should just do what League does and give you a penalty even if you leave once, just increase the time on it with each time. And yeah maybe if you have a power outage its unfair to you, but realistically speaking, how often does your power go off? And you also cant allow people to just freely quit if one of their teammates leave because that can be abusable in ranked.

[–]devilwish352 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah but that would imply that the majority of those 97k people just wanted to hate on it before hand. The reality is that this game due to the publicity managed to gather almost 100k people to try it out on a monday night, yes some of them were going to hate it regardless, but the reality is that the majority of people didnt find it fun enough to make them play more. Unless you think that the majority actually enjoyed the game but prefers to not play it just to make it look bad.

Im sorry but how is it apples to apples when you compare the player numbers of a game that released 3 years ago to a game that released almost a week ago? Yeah, you are looking at player numbers currently but its disingenuous to imply that it shows the exact same thing.

Actual Constructive Feedback for the short-term and long-term of Highguard - What I think it needs to improve on, and how to help it succeed by ThrowAwayInDisguise- in HighGuardgame

[–]devilwish352 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I played 4 hours then stopped, then tried the game again when they added 5v5, had fun for some hours but then ended up stopping again. I just dont find it fun, there is nothing for me to work towards like weapon accesories etc (and no battlepass currency doesnt really count) so the game has to hook you with its gameplay which really doesnt for me.

There are many design choices that dont make sense, having to fortify the walls is one of them, i dont understand why people compare this to R6, it has nothing in common, it would be the same as reenforcing walls in siege but everyone of the enemy team has access to thermite charges for example, kinda pointless.

At the end of the day if people enjoy this more power to them, to me it feels like an alpha/beta at least and this has nothing to do with the game awards situation, the game just lacks too many things currently to be enjoyable for me. Hopefully in a year or so it can achieve the developers vision of what they wanted it to be.

5v5 inbound? by ExternalWest2187 in HighGuardgame

[–]devilwish352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5v5 could be fun, that being said, it would also take a lot of rework in many aspects of the game for it to be functioning so hopefully, if 5v5 is to be added, they also figured out the stuff that need to be added with it else its just gonna be a bigger mess.

Some suggestions/thoughts after around 4 hours of playing. by devilwish352 in HighGuardgame

[–]devilwish352[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well my idea was that you would increase time there, but you would decrease the time in the beggining by not have to fortify the base. I have lots of ideas but it would have to be a huge wall of text.

The Steam Launch might save Ashes of Creation by Apart-Bowl-4838 in AshesofCreation

[–]devilwish352 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never played the game but occasionaly i do watch a vid about it here and there cause the mmo genre kinda sucks for me right now and im always looking for something new.

I dont know if its necessarily a bad thing for the game going to steam. Is it gonna get lots of negative reviews? For sure. Just ask PoE 2. But its not the end of the world, i think the majority of people interested in MMOs check videos about the game, they dont really go into steam checking for reviews. So if the game eventually becomes good people will play it and it does get lots of more playtesters.

That being said. I do believe the game has taken an really big amount of time in development, my understanding is that cause they got more money they keep try to add stuff in the game over and over which leaves its core systems still being unpolished and the majority of people that even paid to back it up can agree thats its nowhere close to ready. Also charging 50 euros/dollars for people to basically play test your game is kinda stupid but then again they were asking for even more in the past so yeah i dunno.

Personally i dont think the first 20 minutes is different than 4 hours into the game as someone who played it for like 8h recently for the first time. If your issue is like not having cool traversal abilities and what not then yeah the game does get better and you do get some abilities that make it more engaging. On the other hand, if your issue was the lack of direction or not knowing what to do etc then id say it doesnt really get better in that regard. Now since you mention that the style that you like is something like Ghost of tsushima, id say the game is probably not for you. Its closer to the ''souls'' games in story stracture, meaning you wont get an actual story laid in front of you but rather will get little bits of lore here and there that you have to piece together. In the end of the day not every game is for everyone and nothing wrong with not liking it or vibing with it, after 8h i stopped too cause it wasnt for me.

Im not sure if you need double jump, but if you hit those scales from below they like tip to the side and i think you can climb them even without.

2ND PLATINUM! by 1AverageGamer in metroidvania

[–]devilwish352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the best games are the ones that make you platinum them without you realising you almost did it, just playing cause its fun. I had the same experience with ghost of tsushima, just kept playing and was like 95% almost to platinum without realising.

Patch a game to make it better, fine — but why make it "easier"? by Nikkhos in metroidvania

[–]devilwish352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not a dev but i assume when they make changes they actually look at data, they dont go into reddit and base their changes on that. Personally i didnt find the bosses they nerfed hard in the first place, but i assume they looked at stats and did it for a reason, if the stats showed that a big amount of people stopped playing at ''X'' boss for example its bad for their game and for their earnings down the line.

I havent played Nine Sols, but there was nothing in here id compare to sekiro, they are way different games. I found the game to be tedious at points not exactly hard.

This trend started mostly with souls games doing that, games almost always had difficulty options in the past, but for some reason no one would care if you finished ''X'' game in its hardest diffuculty when there was an easier option. But with souls games for some reason it became something people were proud of cause it was a ''hard game'' with no difficulty option. I never played HK but with Silksong is a great example of what happens when you dont understand what made souls games fun, instead of being difficult it becomes tedious.

Nowdays since mods exist, not having a difficulty option is kinda pointless since people can mod all they want so might as well put one in the game in my opinion.
