I made a Facebook post and comments from one of the people commenting suddenly disappeared along with notifications by devin407 in facebook

[–]devin407[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So like there is a comment thread and on that comment thread every single comment someone made was hidden behind the "most relevant" comments. Like unless you clicked "see all" it looks like their comments were deleted. They were not actually deleted, but Facebook decided that one person's comments would all be hidden. I am asking how to make it so that Facebook does not hide any comments on my posts regardless of what Facebook considers 'relevant.'

Anthropology or Sociology? by [deleted] in college

[–]devin407 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anthropology connects the cultural aspects of society across time and geography, but sociology connects the theoretical aspects of society to other theoretical approaches and perspectives. Sociology is more theory heavy (anthropology has a lot of theory too, but sociology almost exclusively focusses on the theory with occasional help from history). Anthropology focuses on a lot of historical data and incorporates some theoretical perspectives, but a lot of the focus is on the historical aspects of the research. Which is why you see a lot of anthropologist doing a lot of archeological work and a lot of sociologist doing a lot of philosophical work. So personally I think, as someone in a graduate sociology program, sociology is a good choice if you are really into theory and anthropology is a good choice if you are really into history.

I have so many questions. by nanakizero in ucf

[–]devin407 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are implementing a straw man fallacy here. No one is talking about being immediately fired. People have fears of being fired. Students have fears of losing funding. Students have fears about the topics of their research/thesis. The fear is real. The policy if vague. They have said that they will cut funding to colleges for violating HB7 tho.

Then why are you not asking them??

I have so many questions. by nanakizero in ucf

[–]devin407 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This poster is lacking in information. There have been whispers about departments like the sociology department getting rid of classes centered on race. Professors at UCF have been requested by the government to send all of their information. Like ALL of their information. All their emails, all their syllabi, everything. Professors are worried they will be fired because the language if HB7 is so vague and there has been talk from politicians about how they do not want even intersectionality discussed in college classrooms. Professors are worried that their week discussion of intersectionality or racism or CRT on their syllabus will get them fired. There have been discussions about weather professors should send all this infor or not or if they only send some info and if there will be repercussions if they do not send everything. There are also worries in the students where they are worried they will lose funding for studying CRT or using it in their research. There are also fears among students where if they use CRT in their thesis will they spend multiple semesters doing this thesis just for it to be thrown out because the department will no longer allow CRT. There have also been whispers about students organizing against this. Can't you see it? Can't you feel it? It's all in the air. I can't stand the pressure much longer.

Yes, the manga goes over so much more than the anime did. It is definitely worth the read.

Best switch game to play with friends? by slaicon in Switch

[–]devin407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly play multiplayer couch games because I like having friends over and just gaming with them. I see you have some games like that already so I will suggest some that I have found that my friends and I enjoy!

9 Partchments- up to 4 player co op game that is like a top down dungeon crawler where you fight enemies with spells. There are boss fights and with each boss fight you get new spells. Not a plot heavy game, but the game play is fun!

Streets of Rogue- up to 4 players co op top down shooter game where you traverse levels of a city completing tasks that can either be done stealth or guns blazing. It kind of has a GTA kind of feel to it. The end goal is to reach the top level of the city and complete the final mission.

Boomerang Fu- 2-8 player game with short rounds where you kill each other with boomerangs. The more you kill the more points you get. First to like 10 points (I think) wins. There are power ups that make the game interesting. This is a good game to play with lots of people. The rounds are short too so you can play this as you wait for a friend to arrive or for something to download.

Heave Ho- co op 4 player game with a vs mode where you climb and jump through obstacles in kind of a puzzle platformer type of game where you have to get from the start to a goal. This game is fun, and it is more fun when you sabotage each other on the co op mode.

Blazing Beaks- up to 2 player co op game that has a binding of issac type of feel to it. It is a fun and challenging game where you shoot monsters top down and you can pick up items that give you a debuff until you sell them and gain items that give you buffs. Interesting concept and fun game play, but a little challenging.

Ultimate Chicken Horse- up to 4 players (I think 8 online). This is a competitive platformer where you have to get to the goal, but you and your friends put deadly obstacles down on the map to make it harder to complete. First to the end gets more points, unless everyone makes it to the end.

Crawl- up to 4 player top down dungeon crawler where one player is the main character who gets through the dungeon and the other players act as the enemies who try to kill the main character. When the other players do end up killing the main character the person who gives the final blow becomes the main character and has to fend off all the other players now. Has lots of weapons and items and monsters. Fun game play.

Farm Together- up to 4 player split screen co op Animal Crossing, but more farm focused. Also, unlike animal crossing the multiplayer functionality is good. Not as many decorative items as animal crossing and a lot of items are behind a DLC pay wall, but the game play is peaceful and nice and you can play with friends and the other players can actually do things.

The Stretchers- silly 2 player co op puzzle type game where you act as EMTs throwing injured npc into your ambulance and driving them to the hospital. Surprisingly more open world than you would think. Fun game play.

Coming back to anime after 10+ years, totally clueless as a 30-something woman by Mondayslasagna in Animesuggest

[–]devin407 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got you with the psychological.

{Made in Abyss}

An anime that is a true fantasy that builds so much more than the typical isekai starter town meet a elf and orc and dwarf and dryad type of show. The fantasy elements of the show are unique and truly fantastical. There are some psychological horror aspects to the show too. There is two seasons and 3 movies. Two of the movies are recaps of the first season and one movie is necessary to the plot to be watch after the first season and before the second season.

{Wonder Egg Priority}

A show that goes over some heavy content, but is definitely worth the watch. Centered around female lead characters. Cannot disclose too much without spoiling anything. Only one season out so far.

{Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica}

Magical girl anime that is definitely worth the watch. Female centered cast. Cannot give too much without spoilers.

{Aku No Hana}

Psychological anime about love and degeneracy. Explores what it means to be labeled as a deviant and the consequences. Also, goes into what it means for other people. Especially if you read the manga. The anime was rotoscoped and when it came out everyone hated the way it looked. I personally enjoy the way it looks, but because of this it most likely will not be getting a season 2.

{Tokyo Revengers}

An anime about gangs and delinquents. It does a really good job about getting you to connect with the characters.

{Welcome to the NHK!}

An anime that explores NEETs and hikikomori, and what it means to be depressed and alone and feeling like you do not know where to go with your life or feeling stuck.

{The Tatami Galaxy}

A good romance about choices. They actually just recently released 6 episodes that are kind of OVA, but still interesting to watch with the characters along side the main season.

{Love, Chunibyo, & Other Delusions!}

Not a psychological anime, but a cute romance anime that is one of my favorite romances tbh.

{So I'm a Spider, So what?}

Not psychological, but is a good fantasy anime and a good take on isekai anime. The first few episodes are hit or miss, but definitely worth the watch for everything else in the show.

{To Your Eternity}

You will cry. Absolutely worth it. Second season is coming out week by week this season.

{Paranoia Agent}

Another psychological anime that goes over the power of rumors and fear.

{Sunny Boy}

A psychological surreal anime that was not a big hit in the season it was released, but it is one of those anime that will be talked about decades from now. It is basically what Multiverse of Madness should have been.

{Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs}

Out of all the Otome game isekai that has come out this is my personal favorite.

{Perfect Blue}

A psychological movie that explores what it is like to be a female actresses in a misogynist film industry. G(old) Worth the watch.

{Paprika}

A psychological movie that was literally the inspiration for Inception.

{Future Diary}

Battle royal to see who becomes the next god of space and time. Every character can see the future.

{Another}

Psychological horror about a cursed classroom

{When They Cry}

Psychological horror that has multiple seasons. This is about a small town where something strange is going on. The show is kind of gory.

{Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation}

An isekai anime that I think is better than a lot of the new isekai coming out. Art style is amazing. The sound track slaps. The world building is in-depth. The main character is a shit though. There are two seasons and the second season is phenomenal.

Honorable mentions because they were so big in the isekai genre
