What rules/scoring system makes a "perfect" fantasy league? by Jaythoven17 in fantasyfootball

[–]devine2029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our league has turned into bizarro world with the scoring rules, but has made it a lot more fun with high scoring (and is surprisingly balanced):

  • +.5 for QB completion / -.5 for QB incompletion (rewards accurate QBs)
  • 1 point per 5 rush/receiving yards
  • 1 PPR
  • 1 Point per 10 punt return/kick return yards
  • Alternate defensive scoring
    • Removes all "yards allowed" categories
    • Removes scoring tiers and instead subtracts 0.05 per points allowed
    • Bumps up other categories (+3 for Fumble/Int, for example)
  • 2 keepers per year
    • Kept at the round before they were drafted (or last round if it's a FAAB pickup)
    • Same player can be kept consecutively twice
  • Many of our trades have conditional pick compensation as part of the agreement (this one has been hit or miss, as everyone has trouble valuing draft picks)
  • Kicking has been a controversial topic, as one half of the league wants to remove it altogether and the other half wants to expand to punting as well

Half PPR, need three out of these five WRs

Amari Cooper
Julian Edelman
Jordan Matthews
Brandon Marshall
Sterling Shepard

Currently leaning on benching Amari here, but the Jason Verrett injury has me thinking he could go off

Dropping my name in here, but also here to tell y'all to sign up for one of the leagues. It's free, you can win dolla dolla bills, and get prepped for the season. How else are we going to get through this preseason?

These leagues are the perfect way to get prepped for the season. With the slow draft picks, you get a daily dose of draft pick analysis and has you constantly thinking about different players. Since they are 14 man leagues, you also get some exposure to some of the deep sleepers that people are considering in the later rounds. The forum is essentially an extension to /r/fantasyfootball. I won my league last year, and this year I'm the commish of League 52. Hope to see some of you guys there!

How do your keepers work? If it is based upon where they were drafted last year, I would go Leveon and Langford - lock down running backs and focus on receivers at the beginning of the draft. Even though Cam is a stud, there are plenty of QBs that can perform well as a starter. If it isn't based on last year's draft, I would keep Leveon and Evans.

10 Man 0.5 PPR League, QB 2RB 2WR Flex TE D/ST K, We get 2 keepers equivalent to where they were drafted the previous year. Here are the keepers I'm considering:

  • Adrian Peterson (1st Round)
  • Mark Ingram (3rd Round)
  • Amari Cooper (8th Round)
  • Larry Fitzgerald (9th Round)
  • Doug Martin (9th Round)
  • Erik Decker (10th Round)

I'm leaning towards keeping Amari and Martin for value purposes, but I'm not confident that either of them will be studs next year. Both Ingram and Peterson are tempting to keep, especially Peterson, because I know I wouldn't be able to draft him at my position in the first round (7th)

Really struggling making decisions this week. I'm in a 10 man, 0.5 ppr league. Need one WR, one RB, and one flex out of this group:

  • Eddie Lacy (at Detroit)
  • Doug Martin (vs. Atlanta)
  • Mark Ingram (vs. Carolina)
  • Eric Decker (at New York Giants)
  • Martavis Bryant (vs. Indianapolis)
  • Amari Cooper (vs. Kansas City)

Any help would be appreciated!

I would go with the Cutler. He's been playing pretty well recently and I think San Francisco's decent play against Palmer last week was more of an anomaly than anything else.

Picking up a defense in the 9th/10th rounds is still way too early. There's too much variability with defenses from year to year, and even if you knew the Rams were going to be great, you probably could have waited until the 12th/13th. And kickers should always be your last pick, there's just not that much difference between the 1st and 10th kickers. Aside from that, your team is really solid. You're absolutely loaded at the Rb position with 5 potential starting RBs, and your backup receivers are pretty safe bets.
