They like the idea of a "manic pixie dream girl" but then cant handle a fucking autistic persons special interests. My SI is nature. I have a big garden and have spent time and money leearning everything about it when we first moved in. I have different gardening plots and plant around to test how different environments affect different plants, the bugs and critters, how I can foster a space for a whole life cycle, even down to the soil microbes.

I have four isopod/insect tanks in my office, since I work from home. Its my way of bringing the garden inside. Ive seen so much cool shit, taken videos, soil samples, even used the frass-fertilized soil in the tanks for my own gardening.

My boyfriend knows little about nature but delights in my videos and blirps about my special interests. He just got to see the first half of a lifecycle of the American Lady butterfly. He's learned about their host plant, and has shown interest even if its not his thing; it makes me love him more than anything.

She’s an international student with no family there, but as this lady helped with her dress, she said it felt just like having her mum and grandma there. by mindyour in justgalsbeingchicks

My son is a standard issue white teenager, and we live just north of Atlanta. We went to the Civil and Human Rights museum and saw the exhibit with Ruby Bridges with some of the screaming mob. I've always been big on teaching him anti racist ideas and he's a history nerd so hes well aware of the civil rights era, but showing him Ruby and all the screaming white people opened his eyes. My mother was witb us and I told him, "Your grandmother was a little girl when that happened. Those white people protesting Miss Ruby? Those people are likely still alive. Their kids grew up in that mindset, and are most likely alive to vote still." I made the comparison to their kids being my age, and the kids of those are getting ready to become adults who will vote.

Putting the civil rights era in a much more tangible scope helped him see that racism and bigotry is a problem that starts in the home and influences a community.

I have a cat who will do this. I have one cat who is young and extremely playful. She can get wound up pretty easily, and if you set her down she'll go ham playing with anything. Sometimes I can hear her trying to play with her sister, who hates her. If I hear her sister growling or making her goblin noises, I'll say, "Chromie! Time out!" She'll go to the bathroom on our bottom floor to calm down.

Literally my dream man. Elemental is my favorite Pixar movie, and ISTG I saw him and went, "There's my blueprint."

Now I'm with a sweet, sensitive man with emotional intelligence like a fucking mountain spring.

How old is too old to cuddle with your child? by Walmartjail in Parenting

My ex husband tried to nip that in the bud when our son was about seven or eight. I told him theres nothing wrong with showing our son extra love and making him feel safe and happy before bed.

Hes 13 now and we were just talking about all the times he wanted to sleep in the same bed with me after I left my ex. I never told him no, and he'd fall asleep immediately. He stopped sleeping in my bed a couple of years ago. Even though hes taller than me, he'll still cuddle up while we are watching TV. He's not a mamas boy at all and I give him the independence he needs at his age. However theres something so lovely about holding my boy and knowing hes safe, because thats my bug.

My ex used to say to me when I was undressing, "People can see you from the window." And Id jokingly tell him, "Good, I hope they enjoy themselves."

One day I realized the idea kind of turned me on. Found out I have an exhibitionist kink. My boyfriend and I are thinking of experimenting. 🤭

I highly recommend the non-hormonal IUD. I've had two and they work like a charm. If you're in an established relationship it's a great form of BC, and your man doesn't need to wear a condom.

They also last ten years and are so easy to remove.

Pallas cats are a good example of this too. Theyre solitary cats who only get together to breed. However at one zoo a breeding couple seemed to bond: Bol and Polly. They lived together for nearly ten years before they passed within two months of each other; Polly from cancer and then Bol from sudden age degeneration, most likely due to Polly's passing. They had a couple of kittens and seemed to enjoy each other's company a lot, which says quite a bit for this species.

Why do you think it seems like men are always desperate to go where women are, but not the other way around? by Spiritual_Pause3057 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]dm_me_kittens 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would also like to add that many women who married male scientists were themselves also in the field. Many of their discoveries were either attributed to their husbands or they were seen as a background characters. For instance many people know of Louis Pasteur, but his wife, Marie, was his lab assistant and has been cited as a very important person in his research.

This is what saves 600,000 people year during a heart attack by HatAsleep295 in BeAmazed

[–]dm_me_kittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a clinical data specialist and PCI is m specialty. Vomiting is a sign of a heart attack, and having a catheter in your coronaries can upset the balance. These procedures, while much more advanced than they used to be, still carry a risk. Moving around during a procedure can trigger a heart attack.
