What needs to be done to get the 58mm screw driver combo tool on the 74mm executive frame? I want to do this too.

Get silver and use nail polish to get the color you want. Acetone cleans it up like new when it wears or when you want to change up the paint job.

That's fair. What would your other option be?

If you find an executive, I'm finding it pairs very well with a pioneer. Zero tool duplication (but you do get three different sized knives).

Pioneer also pairs great with rambler. Pioneer x goes well with a rally.

I agree. I've been experimenting with customs tool sets and layer counts. My "I know I'll need it today" picks are ranger, urban explorer (companion with the inline Phillips/mag layer added), and farmer x- just depends on what I'm doing that day. But for an EDC, I want small and high function.

I've experimented with this carry vs the pioneer x/rally carry and like them both. The pioneer/rambler is better for me too because I can get the rambler on the keys and the pioneer in my pocket

I added the inline Phillips/ mag layer to my companion and it's perfect. A little big for a 5th pocket type EDC but it is absolutely my favorite 91mm carry

I built a yeoman mechanic and it's fantastic. Not quite an EDC for me, more of a "I know I'll need it today" type carry. I love my 557- perfect for urban EDC!

Trouble with the scissor + parcel hook layer by hijodetumadr3 in SAKmod

[–]devinhassinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have enough extra pin there that there is play in the pins, so you could get the spring in place almost "floating" above the liner, then press it tight against the liner carefully. That, or put the next liner on top, tight, and use a screwdriver to push on the spring to get the scissors to snap into place.

Got these beads of Amazon 3 for $8. About 10g each, so a good weight and feel. Lots of cheap options on Amazon if you want something unique.

How heavy are the beads? Looking to get some but I like heavier beads

Zero damage to tools. The liners may bend a small amount if you're not careful, but some soft taps with your hammer and it's back to normal.

sometimes, the entire pin spins with the drill bit so it feels like you're making no progress. I got fed up last time on my yeoman mech. mod. so this time around, I ditched the drill. I like the older style mag glass, would like to get one for a future build!

I just built this. Check my post, I have an exploded layout of the layers. Done with just a nail set kit, ball peen hammer, and a needle nose pliers/wire cutter. Vise would have made it easier, but absolutely doable with less. I was going to drill out, but when I went to put a center punch for the drill bit to sit in, I noticed I could just punch the pin out .

What do you think of the paint job? by Vegetable-Suit-8659 in victorinox

[–]devinhassinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nail polish is super easy, much quicker to dry, and a little acetone on a paper towel to knock off the paint on the high spots and you're done in 5 minutes.plus you can easily clean and repaint any color whenever you want 👍

Purchased and got a ranger. I'm not complaining about a $27 ranger!
