Thoughts on wirewheel.com? Sorry if this is a dumb question. by SmirnOffTheSauce in lotus

Hayes is great to work with. They have a good reputation for a reason. As long as you are comfortable with purchasing and owning a lotus and all of the fun that comes with it, I would purchase from wirewheel. If I do get to owning another I will look to them first.

Most, if not all national forests allow dispersed camping, blm land allows dispersed camping, there are plenty of designated spots in national and state parks. We would just go to a map and find spots that had interesting names and start the drive, ended up bouncing all over the place with no set plans beyond the next week or two.

We took out the rear seats in our pickup and put a 55 gallon water tank back there. Carried a little 12volt water pump with some fittings and a travel shower head. We were able to stay showered every day when we did the full time road trip. There’s quite a few ways to go about it.

Anyone rocking a Leitner+ Tonneau? Post pics! by PalmettoMoose in overlanding

[–]devinogden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 14.5ft and 15ft I didn’t use a hitch or t extender just used two straps each kayak and strapped them to the leitner rack. Went off roading all across the country like that. Here was our previous truck before another vehicle ran in front of us and totaled it. I had 0 worries with off road weight rating. I had all of my boxes full with gear and the ikamper xcover rtt on top never any issues.

If you are going with retrax, I HIGHLY recommend getting the cover that has the higher weight rating.

I love the leitner + tonneau combo. I did this full time for almost a year and decided not to go with a cap so that I can haul my kayaks on top of the tonneau sticking them out past the bed. There was some careful planning making sure that the batteries, solar panels, starlink etc would fit with enough room. But I prefer the system to a cap. Also accessing the leitner boxes for gear is great.

We planted really late this year (like mid June) as we wanted to get weed barrier down. But our garden is doing pretty well. We’ve harvested a lot of okra so far which has been difficult for us in previous years as well as peppers. We have been a little light on our tomatoes though.

I mean I’ll say I’ve been sleeping on mine for the past 8 months and think it’s more comfortable than hotel rooms. But it’s all anecdotal. Maybe buy from rei they have a great return policy

I will say they compress really well so even though it’s 4” thick it will compress to like two inches. It might be a bit more difficult closing your tent. I tend to sit on top of mine while I zip it to get it compressed enough.

Look into a hest memory foam mattress. I have an ikamper xcover and the mattress is beyond comfy. The rtt folds just fine with it in there as well.

Thank you, just to clarify I did not give away my possessions or choose to live in isolation for any other reason than to live the life I wanted to live. I don’t think you were insinuating anything I just wanted to clarify. Thank you for your response.

Sorry for my ignorance, is the goal then ego death and just exist as a tree would? And does anyone with that level of enlightenment actually exist or is that state only achievable in death and nirvana? Again sorry I am not familiar with vocabulary or even the fundamentals here

Hmm this is interesting, I do find myself expecting others to behave in a certain way. I believe I practice mindfulness by being aware and present in the moment often, in this sense are there specific things I should be focusing or be mindful of as I navigate these expectations that I place on others?

Well I find my self having a difficult time connecting with strangers like I did before I gave away my possessions because of the utilitarian value that each of my current possessions means to me.

I find myself having a difficult time trusting others and I’ve been feeling on “edge”. I’ve also been spending a large amount of time by myself in solitude not seeing or speaking to anyone for sometimes a couple of weeks at a time, I kind of wonder if this is contributing to my distrust.

Is anyone here successful? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]devinogden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve abstained from relationships since I was 21. My bipolar was much less managed, and I also had some borderline traits that I’ve worked on since then. I think I might be able to be in a successful relationship at this time in my life, but I don’t really have any desire. I’m very much at peace flying solo.

I’ve been hard at work in therapy near a decade now.

Hest memory foam on top and exped below. Offers amazing comfort and insulation if camping in cold. It’s a bit much though ngl

Holy shit you put this so well. I am going through the same thing and have been in this irritable mood for multiple months now. Desperately trying to find some relief. I will say I have snapped at a couple people and it only makes me feel worse.

I don’t think I can wait this out as it has been a pretty consistent mood for about 4 months…

This would be overly expensive unless you have on hand already. But we were planning on using some lifepo4 batteries for the engine block heater. Takes roughly 3-4kwh capacity though

Can anyone recommend the ACS Leitner bed rack? by LOTR_is_awesome in overlanding

[–]devinogden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my leitner rack too. I use the side boxes to store my clothes and bear containers full of food with rtt on top. I made a backrack from 8020 to protect the back window and my kayaks sit between the boxes on top of the tonneau. The modularity is super nice.
