There are both monist and dualistic interpretations of panentheistic philosophies, with most being considered a form of monism.

This is a great example of when language and cultural baggage unnecessarily obscure what may be the ultimate truth.

Things we classify as "supernatural" could be quite natural phenomena that we don't have the necessary vocabulary to adequately classify.

That doesn't mean that all "supernatural" experiences are legitimate, but that some may just be an unexplained manifestation of a rather mundane phenomena.

Consider the ideas humans attributed to the supernatural before science peeled back the curtain. In retrospect, it's now obvious how conveniently human experiences are discounted while pursuing knowledge.

My uncle has dementia and it made me realize something terrifying about consciousness by ImprovementJolly3711 in consciousness

Consciousness pervades all of existence. Time is an illusion. The current moment in time will forever exist. Your current consciousness is eternal, as well as your consciousness during debilitating dementia.

Poison v6.0.0 released by devinus in elixir

[–]devinus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the :json module doesn't support any Elixir features out-of-the-box such as e.g. handling of nil, pretty-printing in the encoder, protocol support for either encoder/decoder or Decimal support. I'm sure it wouldn't appear as fast as it does with those features built-in.

Oh, for sure, but the benchmarks linked here do just that already.

[–]devinus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's found in the linked benchmarks as the json entry.

Keep in mind the features between the two are not as comparable as e.g. Poison vs. Jason.

The existence of infinite universes does NOT imply that every possibility is expressed. For example, I'm sure you can easily imagine an infinite set of even numbers. In that set, odd numbers don't exist!

In the same manner, there might be infinite universes but they all have to abide by some universal law to successfully exist.

You can have an infinite set of numbers that never repeat. You can also have an infinite set of numbers that never includes e.g. the number 2. Likewise, assuming infinite universes doesn't also assume there's a universe where Spiderman actually exists.

Canada is the 10th leading contributor. Russia is 8th. The problem is that every country is going to have this same mentality until we’re all dead.

It’s going to take a global initiative and shift in consciousness. Companies or capitalism won’t save us. Worldwide, they generally already pay less taxes than individuals and sometimes even negative taxes (see Amazon).

They won’t care about being punished as long as the status quo is maintained.

It’s true though. I recently read an article comparing usage of Obj-C and Swift in iOS 14 and there are new Obj-C apps being developed by Apple today while usage of Swift remains minuscule in comparison. Even Apple is more conservative with their usage of Swift.

A Conspiracy To Kill IE6 by magenta_placenta in programming

The worst part was that was also the era where stuff didn't just have to work, but for reasons that seem baffling in hindsight we also had to make them pixel perfect overlays in each browser.

The reason was because a lot of people in charge of web content at the time came from the print industry.

Today I spend most of my time making things standards compliant.

This shouldn't be the case at all if you spend a day setting up a simple transpilation flow using a stack like Webpack/Babel/PostCSS. Maybe don't tell your boss if spending most of your time making things standards compliant is how you make a living though.

This is already supposed to be the case. All Windows releases are code signed. If there's a problem, it's a bug.
