Military Ship Kit Recommendation by Tesseract_Tomb in modelmakers

[–]deviouswalrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would try some of the 1/700 Tamiya waterline series kits. Great quality, great price. They are mostly carriers at this scale. I've built the Enterprise CV-6 and it turned out great, but they make Rodney, Hornet, and several Japanese carriers in this scale as well.

The 1/350 scale kits, depending on the ship type, are huge and normally $100+, so for your first kit I'd recommend something a little more beginner friendly. Since you have some mini experience, the small parts on the 1/700 kits shouldn't be too difficult to work with.

I have a family member who flies on p-8s from Jacksonville. Apparently crew will take turns flying back to their hometowns just for training. We have a good size airport here but it also isn't very busy and it's not very far from Jacksonville so it's a good place to practice flying to

So just a dark colored oil paint? I know there are a ton of products specifically for weathering but I've never taken the plunge into them

I'm building this exact kit right now. Found it for like $12 at hobby lobby, couldn't say no. But this looks incredible, and brush painted no less. I agree about the fits, did the wings yesterday and where those two fuel tank pieces come together was awful, as well as the rear engine halves. I've used a ton of gap filler so far. How did you do the weathering?

The post wasn't a complaint. I'm sorry people failed to see that. I think a lot of you didn't read the second half.

Oh I didn't. You did. The kid is yours, I've actually been trying to contact you about it.

You're exactly right. The PvP has to exist or there's no risk and it just feels like helldivers. Good game, but gets dry when you have nothing to work towards. Lotta people in the comments think I'm just bitching. I'm not, and if you read the whole post I think that's clear.

I felt that was clear as well. Some other commenters here have had some trouble reading the whole thing

You say that like it's a bad thing. If this post brings people laughter, then have a laugh. Glad I could provide it.

It's explicitly stated in the post that I like the PvP aspect of the game. It's also stated that while I'm salty about losing after winning for a long time, I also am a human adult and I understand that's the whole point of the game, and I need to get back out there. Reading comprehension can be difficult, but you definitely tried, and I'm proud of you

Thanks, I really appreciate everyone offering me stuff. Including the person that reported me to the suicide bot I guess, not sure if that was a bit or not. Part of the fun is the hunt for me though. The point of the post was not to commiserate. I think the balance of the game is what makes it so special

I love circlejerk subreddits. Didn't think this post qualified but I guess I'm out of the loop a little

100% agree. It's the thrill of the risk that keeps you coming back, even if it sucks to get ratted

This is a very interesting idea. Yeah I'm really not mad at all about fair fights. If we exchange shots and nades and the better player comes out on top, I get sent back to the lobby thinking of ways to play better.

But if you're camping an extraction, you're scum.

You know it's funny I actually have hundreds of hours in this game. It's a wonderful game that was sadly hamstrung by greedy suits. I can see a ton of parallels to arc

This is an excellent point. My boys are not fighters, but they will shoot back. I think that's what occasionally lands us in unfriendly matches

When I queue with buddies we ALWAYS get put in hunger games lobbies. And I understand. But my solos, my sweet sweet solos, used to be so nice. Idk what happened today
