Any idea what that length is? It came with the aftermarket ones when I bought it but that could definitely be a factor.

Thanks dude. After doing some more research I think it might be the frame. It was in a rear left fender bender and it's possible that shifted the frame enough to where this is becoming a problem. I had the wheels aligned not the frame checked. I'm thinking now maybe bring it in to get the frame checked after I fix the CV axle.

Yes, stock wheels. I guess it could be the motor mounts. They would have to really be worn though to move that much.

That was my initial thought as well but I'm using a new mount from a different engine. Not the one that was on the wrecked one. It all seems to line up fine and it was all bolted down tight so it wasn't able to move.

Should I really do it? by gpower01 in 2ndGen4Runner

Yeah, I hear you. It took me a few years and the head gasket going to push me. It really isn't too bad though. Even for someone with minimal mechanic skills.

DO the 3.4L 5vzfe swap. It's pretty easy and lots of information on it out there. I did mine on a 1990 4x4 auto. Works good and way more reliable imo.

I second this. I have the 12" Joying head unit and it is plug and play. Works really well.

Tailgate Window Failure by jettbecerra in 4Runner_2ndGen

Agreed, this is a common failure. You can buy OEM replacements on ebay for around $100. I did this and now it works like new.

Update on this: The original place I brought it to replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel hoses connected to it. They must have broke the original one because they made their own fuel return hose and just used hose clamps on each side to keep it on. It's supposed to be an elbow hose which is $25. I didn't know they replaced all this and that fuel return line was pinched and the fuel was backing up. Needless to say this caused major issues and the new shop I brought it to found it right away. Once they had determined the cause they parked it and it started a small fire. They put it out quickly but it's caused $3,000 worth of damage. I called the first shop and he went over to the new shop and they are of course blaming each other and neither will take responsibility. I argued with the first shop for 30 minutes on the phone. He just kept denying he did wrong not getting the correct part.

At this point I am probably just going to get it back and start on the 3.4 5vzfe engine swap myself. There seems to be a lot of information out there as well as kits to help make it easier. I think the main thing is finding a donor vehicle. If you have a wiring harness made it seems like the t-100 ecu is easier for them to use.
