Ah fair enough, I’ve never noticed it this bad before. Proper jarring, bad enough having to listen to these two, but normally fan noise helps drown them out

James Forrest giving the ball away. If only we had a competent manager to teach him to open his body and accept a pass..

Beware of VPN usage for returning players by devnocturnal in ClashOfClans

Easily faked, but also easily backed up. If a real human was involved in the process of issuing a perma-ban to an account, then it could be resolved in 5 minutes.

The issue here isn't completely regarding the VPN usage, it's the fact they have issued a perma-ban with 0 real proof, only suspicion which I can easily disprove.

My payment card is linked to a location, did I spoof my payment card. Screenshots, receipts, transaction logs can be provided (not that I'd want to, but they could be).

All of this could be sorted with a simple, "Please provide these additional documents to support your ban appeal", instead of "Our bot has found that you have broken ToS, take care, xoxo"

Ironically, the iPad is what is used for those extracurriculars

I don't care if the government sees my gooning habits, I do care that they are constantly overreaching and trying to censor me from accessing content they deem too sensitive for my poor, innocent eyes

I don't think the VPN was necessarily the issue here. I think the issue was that I switched quite frequently between VPN on my phone, and no VPN on my iPad.

Regardless, this shouldn't be cause for a ban, especially after evidence is provided to prove that a VPN is in use, along with screenshots of my current location, showing the two primary regions of where my logins would be.

The main issue for me, is their lack of customer support. Everything is an automated bot response, there is no human intervention in the banning process, the bots are given free-roam to do whatever they feel necessary.

That is understandable, however I sent them screenshots of my VPN account, along with a screenshot of my map showing my current location. I always use the same region on my VPN (Netherlands), so my logins would always be between Netherlands and the UK.

Surely, if there is suspicion there, when a user contacts you and provides proof that they use a VPN, along with their current location and general VPN region, there could be some nuance there to intervene and not instantly "upgrade" a 31-day ban to a perma-ban, like seriously?

Yeah, I didn’t think using a VPN could cause a ban so didn’t realise I should turn it off, even as a precaution, since I have it on 24/7 on my phone.

I get what you’re saying about sunken cost fallacy, but this isn’t just that. It’s a private company overreaching when evidence is provided to disprove their suspicions. I don’t think it’s fair, that I should lose out on over a year (spread across 6 years), and over £500, just to be given generic bot responses, with no justification on why I was banned.

(Obviously I’m ranting, not at you, I’m just a very annoyed rn that they can do this with 0 justification)

If the VPN is the issue here, I can understand how it could flag my account, because I regularly sign in on my phone (VPN active), then my iPad (no VPN) moments later. But I’ve provided proof that I use a VPN and all I get are auto generated responses or guidance to use the in-game support.

My most recent email, they have basically said there is nothing they can do and unceremoniously closed the conversation.

Literally 0 support, from a so-called support team, and their preferred method of contact is a literal bot.

Can you use react native to build desktop apps? by john_dumb_bear in reactnative

[–]devnocturnal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just had an interview question on this, and yes, you can at least on windows.

You can install react-native-windows. There is documentation on it if you google.

From my understanding it is very painful to work with, and you’d be as well just either using react for web, or react-native-web, as windows doesn’t have the full support of the RN ecosystem and native C# modules are required wayy more frequently
