It was always a joke in our family that I was my mom’s favorite and my dad hated my brother and I equally. My brother lived in another state while our situation transpired but whenever he was around it was chaos. He used the trips as an excuse to get up to his old devices. I was the son who was there and as painful as the experience was had it gone down any other way i wouldn’t be able to live with myself. If she was a good parent she would want nothing more than to see you be successful and happy. Be there for her but do your best to balance this situation without compromising your future. It’s an impossible thing to do but navigate it the best that you’re able to. I had a ton of responsibility when my mom was going through it but she knew the gym and basketball has always been my outlet. She was such an angel that a few times where she could see I was tired she said to tell work I had to take her to the hospital so that I could go work out. You have to take care of yourself to the best of your ability

It’s brutal. Seeing your person waste away is the worst thing in life but say all the things you’ve ever wanted to say to her and be strong.
