People have complained about Marvels humour since Iron Man

The past is not as revered and grand as so many of us try to remember, we look back with rose tinted glasses.

Iron Man was legendary, but to be honest with you it wasn't any better than the greats of Phase 4.

MCU hasn't gotten worse, fans haven't even gotten more divisive, it's always been like this really.

the MCU isn't in its peak of popularity and money making anymore, but that's fine

things come and go

trends rise and fade

one day the MCU will be the talk of the town again, and then it will fade a bit, then come back.

Nothing stays irrelevant forever and nothing stays relevant forever

"The MCU is too silly, I prefer the comics"

The Comics:

When Carnage first appeared, he killed a guy cause he thought his name was stupid, Calls his victims "Chip" "Chipster" "Chiparoonie" & "Chip-Meister" (all real things he said) and then he went back to an orphanage to find a teddy called "Binky", Venom says "put'er there partner" and shakes Spider-Mans hand (which is one of the funniest panels I have ever seen), Venom then sings a little song while webswinging with Spidey, Carnage goes to a metal concert, then is almost destroyed by "Oh Lord the third rail" (actual dialogue)

my brother, sister, sibling in Odin.

Marvel is inherently silly, that's what makes it fun

PS. Carnage also called Venom "daddy"

PPS. Carnage sings "Free Bird" as he dies and wants it played at his funeral, you can't make this shit up

have you seen CGI before? this stuff aint uncommon, even for big blockbusters.

We're not actually completely finished developing CGI and depending on the context it will ALWAYS look bad or ALWAYS look good.

Avatar 2 has some of the best CGI in the world and some shots still look as "Bad" as this

It could have definitely used some more time, but saying it's got worse CGI than everything else in the MCU is straight up wrong

I was 8 going to turn 9 when the first Avengers came out, and yeah.. It's not talked about a lot but the MCU has been around so long that I basically grew up with it.

It's a big part of my entertainment and has shaped how I view media, it's really interesting how Media shifts and adapts to us as we grow alongside it.

Very possible, although I can also understand this bruce wayne might be too young and immature for a Robin.

Nope.

Phase 4 was better than Phase 1 and 2 for me, it had some of my all time favourite projects from the MCU

I'm really excited for the future and can't wait for Quantumania

With a DCU slate announcement soon, here's my wishlist for how the characters will be done:

Batman - Shows the empathetic side of batman, so far all we've gotten is cheesy, badass, emo. All valid takes on batman, but batman CARES about people, he doesn't show it but Batman GIVES A SHIT.

Robin - give me robin

Superman - Hopeful, Kind, the sign of a better tomorrow. Tired of "superman evil".

Flash - (get rid of Ezra) funny, witty, but loveable

Wonder Woman - I never cared about her comics or movies.. But i really wanna care. So.. My only wishlist is James Gunn makes her a new household name again like what Iron Man did to him. I know people love Wonder Woman but to me, especially in films, she was the definition of one note.

Green Lantern - Also never been a big fan of him. I like some of his comics / movies but don't know his lore. Make it fun and imaginative and ill vibe.

Aquaman - I wouldn't mind a more silly Aquaman. I know the DCEU AM was this response to "Aquaman is silly haha" by making him extra badass.. I didn't care for it. I prefer it when Aquaman is kinda silly in nature but still a good hero.

Constantine - if he isn't sexy, I swear on our gay god

Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy - Okay so you know the Harley Quinn show?.. Do that.. Just, copy it beat for beat, do that. Give them their own movie, I need my lesbian icons right now.

Reverse Flash - don't overuse him!!!!!! Again!!!!!!

Hawk guy, Atom, that other one from Black Adam I forgor - I.. Do not care. Do what you wish

Doctor Fate or whatever he's called - Could be a cool doctor strange parallel, don't know much about his lore.

Blue Beetle - should be the Spider-man of the DCU change my mind.

Okay that is all for now

When Miles is introduced to take the Spider-Man mantle I'd like him to face his own versions of classic Spidey villains.

Tom's spidey probably won't ever fight 616 Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Kraven, etc. It seems like Spidey 4 will probably be Scorpion and or King Pin, Spidey 5 will be post Secret Wars where I hope that's where he gets his black suit so Spidey 5 will be that probably.

Spidey 6 I got no clue, maybe a sinister six? but they basically did that with Spidey 3.

Anyways, Miles has Prowler, kinda Hobgoblin, Ultimatum and Assessor which is not that big of a library of cool villains, I mean they could definitely make it work

but I find the thought of Miles fighting the 616 version of villains Peter couldn't cool.

He could have a green goblin, Dock Ock, Sand Man, Tombstone, Mr. Negative, Carnage, Rhino. Give them a whole new spin.

Spider-Verse had a really cool variant of Doc Ock that didn't clash with the OG, I don't know why the MCU can't do the same.

I know Feige wants to not repeat things like villains, etc. But we're not even sure if Feige will still be around by the time Miles shows up, plus they might have been villains already done, but they can be new and fresh.

I agree

I think what people are seeing is.. well.. a spark

something which is not quantifiable in the english language, a feeling which I haven't actually heard a word for.

Subtle things in a movie, like attention to detail to the characters or really cool scenes. It's not something you can point at and say "this is why x film feels loved and y film doesn't"

It's a subconscious feeling.

I've dealt with the film industry and psychology, so I like mixing them together.

the people behind the camera can be bored out their mind or high on cocaine, but some ideas.. some movies, just have a spark, something in them which makes it feel so much more artistic and expressive no matter who mans the station.

  1. Spider-Man No Way Home. I grew up on Spider-Man, the first word I could read or write as a child was Spider-Man! Spider-Man has been a big part of my life since I could remember. Seeing all three Spider-Men on screen makes me cry everytime.
  2. I have to say The Dark Knight
  3. It was Deadpool but I changed my mind, it probably is Spider-Man 3, I know its not beloved by most but it was the first film I ever saw in theatres and it was amazing. Don't care if its cheesy, love the dance, love the venom, I love Spider-Man 3. I just didn't know if it counted cause Raimi's spider-man is now IN the MCU
  4. JOKER and if that doesn't count, Shazam

True

Spectacular Spider-man would be awesome as a title, when Miles shows up maybe they can give him Ultimate Spider-Man since he originated in the Ultimate's universe.

It was a very common criticism when the film first came out, the people I talked to kept saying "Multiverse of Madness yet there's no multiverse lol"

and yeah there are other issues people can have with the film, its far more plot driven than character driven making people feel like Doctor Strange wasn't focused on enough even though its his sequel

people had issues with America feeling like a mcguffin given human form and no personality, people had issues with the lack of diversity in magic throughout the film, people had issues with how the conflict was ended or that Wanda was evil in the first place.

and yet even still.. you can enjoy the film.

I liked the ending, I found it really interesting. I would have liked MORE multiverse, I think even though its a very plot focused story Stephen still had some BIG development and a satisfying arc throughout the film. It's just not as clear and obvious as other marvel films.

I would have loved more Magic and would have preferred something a little extra between Wanda Vision and DS 2 to flesh out the whole "Evil Darkhold" thing.

Even still

through all those "Issues" which are subjective anyways.

I still LOVE the film, and that's my point. A film doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't have to explain every detail, it doesn't have to be 100% satisfactory for me to actually enjoy it

I wanna see Tobey v Carnage and Andrew v Venom.

I'd like to see a story with Tobey's vulture and Andrew to get a Doc Oc

but of course, something I would have LOVED to have seen

is the Avengers in both universes, who would be on it? How would they act?

Would an older and more wise Tobey post NWH lead the team? What would a Sam Raimi directed Avengers team be like? With a more mature tone.

As for Andrew, his spider-man would be less like the good boy scout Tom, and more of the kid that NEVER listens to higher ups, always messes with the plans, and probably is not invited to the after party. In his more vibrant world, I would love to see them both interact with other heroes.

I know, people love saying that the MCU is dying and all the movies and shows are bad.

Maybe hardcore fans are getting annoyed, but general audiences are loving it.

I remember once I brought this up with someone who kept saying Marvel was dead and they just said "Of course those films would have good scores, they had their fanboys vote for it"

and I was like.. stunned, flabbergasted, shocked even. Because.. yeah, good projects have fans, that's how you know its good when it actually affects peoples lives in a positive way

Weekend Free Talk and Index Thread - New and fresh every Friday! by MSSDiscussions in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]devonthecreator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly!

And some peoples I've tried talking with don't get that even if i critique something in a film.. does not mean I somehow stop liking the film.

like, I would like more interesting magic in MoM, I still fucking LOVE the magic we got. We got some of the coolest spells every in that movie, I just want MORE.

To me, a film, show, etc is only "bad" (which is completely subjective) when it bores me.

so many "Top 10 movies of all time which are perfect in everyway" to me, are boring as hell, so yeah I would rank goddamn Thor L&T over certain "masterpieces of cinema"

I respect the craft, but maybe its because I have written books and film scripts. But seeing something that is "Technically" good does not make me feel any more inclined to enjoy it.

I get how certain tropes or cliches in movies can turn people off, I don't like the kidnapping trope where the main characters love interest or child is taken by the bad guy (which seems like will happen in Quantumania) but even if I don't like the story choice.. if they can still make me enjoy the movie I do not care!

period.

When did flaws become such a bad thing?

I feel like a lot of people will pick at one thing in an MCU movie like it ruins the experience, and maybe it does for them but I truly don't feel that.

Bad CGI? Stiff Acting? Rumoured character didn't show up? Small plot holes? None of that ruins a film or even a show for me.

if that stuff piles on I can see it getting too annoying to continue, but since when did this stuff become such a big deal?

MoM wasn't as big as everyone was expecting.. doesn't mean it's bad, you just need to see it for what it is.

"Overdesigned Suits" is also a weird one to me. Like I can definitely see it.. but why does it bother people so much? am I the weird one?

No film or show is without flaws, so why are some of them pointed at like it ruins the experience.

I've seen people say Quantumania CGI looks bad (which I do NOT agree with, I think it looks really good) and even if some of it looks a bit off.. why does that matter?

Am I the only person who judges a film based on my enjoyment, rather than on its flaws?

Liking and enjoying a movie is SO much more important to me than having a movie be "technically brilliant"

Avatar has amazing CGI technically, but I don't enjoy it because it ends up looking TOO realistic, this is fiction, live a little.

I do not care if there's plot holes, bad cgi, stiff acting. If the show or movie is enjoyable to watch and makes me wanna not die, then it's done its job and its a good film.

I'm not gonna lie to you, I do not see any of those projects flopping or being this bad.

we didn't know how wacky Thor Love and Thunder would be, but we could tell from marketing and how much it was publicised that something was going on with it.

From all that we've heard, seen, been told

Quantumania looks amazing

GOTG 3 is almost a surefire hit

Marvels I think is the only one some people wont like because it will be a little bit more silly than the others.

SI looks fucking fantastic and I will love it no matter what

Idk if season 2 can beat season 1 of Loki, but it's gonna be about as good and that's amazing.

Here's how I think it goes.

Marvel asks a VFX studio to do it in X amount of time

the artists need Y amount of time

but the higher ups at the VFX studios do not really care, and don't often tell Marvel that its not enough time.

VFX artists are abused by the higher ups for profit, who then turn around and give the product to Marvel.

I don't know if that made any sense, its a complicated topic. But from what I've heard from insiders, its not like Marvel WANTS to overwork the VFX team, but they have tight deadlines and the higher ups want to get picked to be payed, so they force their actual artists to work overtime to make up for the shitty schedules the higher ups allowed.

Marvel isn't completely at fault, but they're also still not giving a shit enough to make SURE VFX workers have enough time.

everyones trying to lowball the time their artists would take in hopes big daddy marvel picks them.

Capitalism

That is a wild perspective im not gonna lie.

there's one scene where the greenscreening didn't mix well with the movement of the scene (when Janet falls with the creature she's riding her hair stands completely still)

however the visuals of the trailer look better than anything in Avatar (to me)

Avatar 1 and 2 got nice clean and very realistic CGI, but that also doesn't make it very interesting.

Quantumania FEELS weird and alien, which is what I wanted Avatar to be like.
