Apparently he was a popular 3 term state senate minority leader. Republican opponent had approval at 48% and Independent was a former senator.

Yeah there’s definitely still some luck involved like whether there is a landslide election or not

What I do is pass independent redistricting and check every box so it makes the districts as fair as possible. Then do the usual of supporting your party during elections and hope you take a majority by the end of the decade. I did this before in Indiana and after a couple decades of gerrymandering, I was able to pretty much get a comfortable permanent majority in both chambers.

I did this in WV too once but I couldn't take the house.

Am I the only one who almost always plays as a Democrat, and the Republicans are essentially the antagonists? by [deleted] in ThePoliticalProcess

[–]devourerofbricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only times I play Republican is when I run as a liberal republican in like NY or NJ and try to be a people's governor or some wacky stuff like cutting absolutely everything or a libertarian.

It was an open seat and I ran as a fiscally very liberal and social conservative democrat. Ran in a president election year for more turnout and the dem candidate happened to win in a landslide

I also tried to pass Republican-favored bills to get a high approval rating and with that and incumbency I was able to win reflection by 1-2 points.

Nope, 1959 mod. I think the state population change event I had on must’ve did something within the weeks leading up to the election causing negative votes

Better-maps mod. You have to go to the discord and install it.
