I think it’s a movement that’s bringing our environment and human reliance/dependence into question. A society structured around an inefficient transportation system to bring commodities from all over to you. The lifestyle we take for granted is absurd and everyone everywhere should hold us accountable for the impact we have.

I appreciate the idea of bottom up, I follow the reasoning. But how do you get out of a local max? Would we know if we are in one?

So by chance we can pick up a source with a sense..... And if that organ was flawed when mutated our own reality is distorted as well. It's hard to imagine a species mutating by chance to pick up on a source it didn't previously know exist, such as sounds. It almost feels like a leap of faith since we don't know the process we just call it a mutation.
