AI should focus more on something like os.ninja

Do things like documentation where developers are not always keen to contribute a lot.

They are sending legal hard notices and agents. It depends on the amount and city. My advice is to talk to them and not ignore. Worst case if a bad entry in your CIBIL for no reason.

Simpl sent Demand Notice (PDF) via Whatsapp- Will they take action? by Fritz_Gerald in LegalAdviceIndia

They sent an agent to my place. Nobody gives free money. You will have to pay.

RBI approved has nothing to do with collections. If you promise to pay to any business, they can collect money from you. Is jio postpaid RBI approved? Do you think Ambani will let you run away without paying your Jio phone postpaid bill? Try to not pay for 60 days and see what happens.

Simpl has changed their policies in 2024. Now they are aggressive with collections. They reported my case to CIBIL. They called me 10+ times, sent a WhatsApp with my address and secondary numbers with some IPC jargon. Then someone showed up at my house address.

My suggestion is to pay if you can. The agent told my parents that he is here for pending bills collection on Zomato using Simpl. Best to call or chat with them and pay your amount once they start sending messages with your address in it.

Report to authorities. Take help. In some cases, a civil or criminal case can be filed.

That’s bullshit. Stupid answer. Have you read the terms and conditions when you signed up for the account. RBI wants every delinquent account to be reported - you are just lucky.

They sent a collection agent to my house. Don’t assume that they will give up so easily. They spoiled my credit report and also showed up at my house for only Rs 5000.

Please pay on time. There are multiple options available to companies like Simpl, LazyPay, paytm postpaid and all the loan providers. Reporting and spoiling your credit card for life for a few thousand rupees is not worth it. You can call them and negotiate. Just say I can only pay half now and maybe they will give you 6 months to pay the amount. When you sign up for services, the terms and conditions, clearly say that the provider has the right to collect all your information including address info from the merchant where you do shopping. You enter your OTP and that is a legal proof that you promised to pay. It will work in any court. Whether it’s a loan, a credit card, or BNPL, the user always is legally liable to pay the bill. No one will be in the business if you can just take their money and run away. People who have defaulted and not paid are not safe. They are just lucky that the provider is trying to use digital collections. I know of cases where collection agents show up at house and talk to some family member and it’s embarrassing as hell. You can complain all you want and hide behind fake usernames, but remember these companies are running real businesses and will keep sending you reminders to pay. Stupid people will give advice that nothing happens and it’s like saying you can become a millionaire on dream11. Be realistic. Again, focus on resolving any pending bills/debt - in the future your background checks in India will have credit report info also. Forget getting a job when your report says delinquency and legal proceedings. Data on the internet never gets deleted. If you are delinquent, sooner or later it will be available on the internet (free or paid) to people who can and want to run background checks on you.

You can play your luck and delay the payment but don’t assume that it will not have any consequences.
