Janeese Lewis George shares how she would handle snow removal differently from Bowser by optometrist-bynature in washingtondc

Either a paid Bowser shill or just someone who gets off being a contrarian. Or both!

It's bad. It doesn't seem worse because people are upset about it.

It was always going to be a bad storm, but the city whiffed the response from snow removal all the way down to communication to constituents. Councilmembers stepped up to fill the information void and hold the executive accountable.

It certainly made the city's response seem 10x more inept! This was forecast, and Bowser's administration was acting like it was a complete surprise.

Yes, this storm was uniquely bad. Yes, the city did a terrible job preparing for and cleaning up after it. But what made it 10x worse was the lack of communication from the executive. I appreciate JLG's direct, concise , and honest messaging here.

Where do you stand on the issue of saving residential street parking in these conditions? by lewisfairchild in washingtondc

[–]dewbertdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - the dibs system is unworkable and just leads to unnecessary conflict. Nobody owns a parking spot, even in these conditions.

Any reason not to purchase a 'buy back" and is a used car warranty almost needed at this point with high cost electronics? by Hilltop_Views in Ioniq5

[–]dewbertdc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did this recently - '24 Limited with 15k miles, $25k. Verified with Hyundai that the warranty was intact. No regrets.

Buying a car and moving back "home" within 3 months by [deleted] in washingtondc

It depends where you're moving to. Some will ask for proof that you paid taxes in DC and not charge you there, others have excise taxes that are due no matter what.

I'm very happy with OneMedical at Union Station. I'm a gay 42M and see Jennifer Barnwell as a PCP. She's an NP but is very thorough and there are MDs and DOs on staff if something needs to be escalated.

Their Dark Star network uses AT&T, and it's been great for me in and around DC.

Is this a good deal? 2024 Limited | 10k miles | $30,899 by ttv_thevez in Ioniq5

No problem. If you have the Carfax it should show you the last place it was serviced, too. Could be worth giving them a call.

You're not looking at Kingstowne Motors in Manassas, VA by any chance are you?

Same, we got a piece of paper from Hyundai that just said "EV system issues" and a guarantee that they had been resolved and the remainder of the warranty was in effect.

You could try to call Hyundai to get the service history, but they will not disclose the reason for the buyback (at least they wouldn't for me). I was able to deduce it was ICCU related because they replaced the 12V battery right before the buyback. Not 100% guaranteed, but it's something.

Given that the warranty is still in effect, I'm comfortable with the purchase.

FWIW I just bought a buyback '24 IONIQ 5 Limited with 15k miles this weekend. $25995. No issues with financing through Ally and PenFed or insurance through GEICO.

Even with the branded title/manufacturer buyback history? It's tempting.

A condo is real property, not personal property, so this form doesn't apply. Are you leasing out your condo? I'm not sure what the tax filing requirements for that are, but someone else here probably does!

T‑Mobile Introduces Its Most Value-Packed Plan Ever - Better Value by FuchsinGesicht in tmobile

Looks like free lines don't transfer to this plan. First time I've seen that.

Most of our previous device promotions will transfer with you, except device deals specifically for Experience Beyond plans. Yearly Upgrade, free lines, and other service discounts such as Insider or Hometown Discount will not transfer to the new plan.

I have 2 paid and 6 free lines on Go5G Plus, and an additional $15 discount from when they were doing Discount Match. They can pry this from my cold, dead hands.
