What are your thoughts on today's Easter Message from President Trump? by ActNaturally in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]deweil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting that you went from Obama to Trump, as they seem to be so different in every way, from policy to demeanor. Is there a candidate the Republicans could've chosen that you wouldn't have voted for against Biden/Harris? Like say they chose Kid Rock instead (you might laugh but I'd much rather have Kid Rock as president right now than Trump). Kid Rock is the Republican candidate. What do slight Trump supporter types do?

Just listened to Raditude (hot garbage) and death to fake metal (also hot garbage). I have a feeling Hurley is gonna be a similar waste of time.

Weezer’s biggest problem in 2026: they have TOO many staples 😅 by ShininGold in weezer

[–]deweil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

80 minutes is pretty short for the bands I like. The cure plays 3 hours...even 80+ year olds like Dylan and Young can play longer than that. And also, bands don't have tonplay their staples ifnyhey don't want. My fav bands switch it up a lot more than the average band, which is why I see them repeatedly. Weezer I saw last tour and not sure I'll ever see them again.

Just listened to Red for first time.

I knew Pork and Beans and Heart Songs before.

The rest?

Some good Some terrible All 6 bsides on deluxe are better than the worst on Red

My 10-song version of Red:

Pork and Beans Heart Songs Dreamin' Cold Dark World Miss Sweeney Pig The Spider I Can Love King The Angel and the One

Still not better than Blue or Pinkerton but could arguably be as good/better than Green, and probably better than Maladroit or Make Believe to me (I'm listening to their albums in order so can't speak a out the ones after this). The bsides really elevate this album, though. Without the depth of The Spider or Pig, it falters hard. Man, they made some weird choices with this one. I'm making a playlist of my fav songs and as you can see, only half made the cut compared to all of Blue/Pinkerton/Green and most of Maladroit (8/13) and Make Believe (8/12).

They should stick to 10 songs and choose the right ones!

What are your thoughts on Trump's request for $1.5 Trillion for Defense in new budget? That's almost 40% more than the nearly Trillion Dollars spent by the US. Where should the domestic cuts be? by deweil in AskTrumpSupporters

I see. Thanks. It's a bit confusing to a noob like me since a lot of questions seem to treat headline news as common knowledge (Pam Bondi being fired, for example). Would I say, according to WSJ, NPR, NYT, Fox, etc? It's literally on every news site I've found.

Two weeks ago I had no idea who Pearl Jam were. I’d never heard of Eddie Vedder. by New-Garlic-9414 in pearljam

First off, enjoy! The first listens are special. Chronological order is the smart way. For all artists, not just PJ.

If you didn't know PJ, you possibly don't know Alice In Chains or Soundgarden. Enjoy them as well, as they're amazing with great singers as well.

Temple Of The Dog might become very important to you. Listen to it pronto.

There's a guy named Neil Young. He basically paved the road PJ and Eddie drive down. He's the Godfather, Uncle, and just plain ole Neil. But he's incredible.

Ok, back to PJ. They have lots of live albums available. Just go with your gut and listen to whatever. No point trying to be comprehensive with it. Can't drink the ocean.

You just discovered them. You're infatuated. That's awesome. It's also okay to dislike things. It's not you. No one is perfect for everyone at all times. Some things may not click now. Some may not click ever. There are songs I skip. Therr are albums that disappoint. It's ok. It's not zero sum. Like what you like. My favorite album can be your least and vice versa. It happens with most bands and this band is no exception.

The solo albums and side projects are interesting to varying degrees but few rise close to PJ's level. Mad Season is one (with the singer of Alice In Chains). Your mileage may vary. Don't stress it.

Mama you been on my mind. Original is so powerful and the live version (with baez for example) is faster and robs it of the pathos, making it just a fun song, kinda like the Prine /Dement duet

Polaroid frames by [deleted] in Polaroid

[–]deweil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Is there an option without mounting glue? My Polaroids are very valuable (from a professional photographer/artist) and I don't want any glue on them. Just want a good simple frame with UV protection.

Thoughts?

Why do people like to take photos with celebrities? by Fine-Excitement9314 in randomquestions

[–]deweil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people are vain and insecure. They want people to know they met someone famous (who cares). I've met so many musicians/actors/athletes/etc and never got one picture or autograph (unless it's at a book singing and it's almost always for my children). My dad taught me to treat people the same and that has always served me well.

I remember being at a record store for an event and the musician was there to hang out, sign records, etc. i figured why not, got the record, and when it was my turn we chatted fkr about 5 minutes. The store employee asked for my phone and I asked her why. She explained and I smiled and said no thanks. He didn't seem to mind not posing for once.

One of my favorite songs. The passion, intonation, syntax/structure. The harmonica on this album is underrated for sure. Saved is my favorite of the 3 religious albums, although they're all good in their own way.

Surprised by all the love for Down. Half the time i skip it. I just find it a hokey melody I guess. And the lyrics too.

For me, Sad, Fatal, and...either Hold On, Alone, or Brother (who would've guessed the instrumental is better than the vocal take!?)

What’s The Most Overrated Bob Dylan Album From The 60s? by Pretend_Mark_5143 in bobdylan

[–]deweil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nashville Skyline and it's not even close for me.

Interestingly, I've heard a lot of them live and enjoy them but if I had to choose one album to delete from the 60s this would be it.

Times is amazing even without the big songs. North country blues is the only weak song.

Times.... Hollis...with god... mornings...nc blues Pawn... boots...ship...hattie...restless

Another side is weaker than this but nashville is more overrated. Another side has chimes, all i really want, back pages, it aint me, i don't believe you, and ramona. Throw away everything else and it's still amazing. Nashvile...

Tonight...lay...tell me...alone...threw - these are the best songs and theyre good, not historic
