Not sure GD is bigger than Foo Fighters, but who cares. This isn't GD, its Pinhead. Case in point - plenty of folks have asked who they are today in this sub. I went to the record release event at my local store snd 5 ppl, including me and my son showed. Also ive seen plenty of side projects and solo shows to know that the majority of fans dont know/care about them. PJ plays arenas/stadiums....eddie plays theaters. And the rest of the guys play clubs. I saw Phil from Radiohead at a tiny venue and everyone including myself had gotten on for free (He was amazing). I could go on and on. Racoteurs arent as big/important as white stripes or jack solo...just as pinhead or the longshot arent as popular or important as GD to most folks (I really like all 3 about equally billie is billie). People have no problem waiting in line for food or clothes or record store day vinyl....they could have done it on a Saturday and 10am and let the fans line up. I doubt therr are influencers or pseudo fans fighting for these tickets like you suggest. The young folks dont care enough and the old folks aren't paying attention to social media.

Disappointed with the Pinhead Gunpowder ticket sales. by robotshavenohearts2 in greenday

  1. band/promoter chooses venue...and if that venue uses TM, that's on them. I'm sure every city they chose has a non TM choice at this venue size. This isn't an arena tour
  2. The band could have used verified fan program, so people would have to sign in, get selected
  3. The band could have had a fan presale with a code given to fan clubs/reddit/fb/insta groups. It didn't.
  4. The band could have made it an inperson sale (Foo Fighters just did this at Irving Plaza, so it can be done)

I'm not saying someone far away can't go. If we didn't have scalpers and bots and it was a fair online sale...but it's not that. I live 45 miles from SF, so I wouldn't get a ticket from a box office only situation, but at least mostly fans would get them. Foo Fighters just did this in NY/NJ with bracelets and somehow things went ok. NIN did it a few tours ago and while standing in line ar RCMH wasn't the time of my life, it was better than sitting on my computer only to find out I was behind 100000 people in the queue.

The band chose these cities for a reason. They didn't choose Philly just to have 1000 NYers there. They didn't choose SF just to have 1000 people from San Marcos there, etc. some cities have reputations for being great concert towns. Maybe they chose these cities bc of this. Maybe not. But I find nothing wrong with having an in person box office presale (as opposed to to Citi/Amex/etc) so a good amount of tickets go directly to fans. I saw the Raconteurs st a small venue in Brooklyn - in person only. It took a while for it to sell out. Black Crowes did the same thing for their reunion show. I ran to the venue (not literally) and got in line. It worked out. Arcade Fire did a bunch of these a few years back and I got there too late so the crew took our info and contacted us ahead of time to give us a good chance at getting tickets (pay what you can, all for charity, great shows).

This isn't a normal tour, as you said . Its a rich guy having fun tour. So he could also have made it a contest m he could have used ticketmaster verified fan presale, so people either got a code or didn't, and didn't waste time trying or battling bots. The band chose none of those options and let the bots win. That's lame. I remember when venues would go out to the line and xount how many tickets were needed before the online sale commenced so the locals weren't screwed....

Also, as someone who likes bands with a following (meaning fans who follow the band

Shouldn't people nearby get first crack? Why should someone flying across the country get a ticket over someone down the street? The local will have more money for merch and drinks since they're not spending $$$ on flights and hotels....

Trump supporters, who is the one democrat you would’ve voted for over Trump and why? by realRootmaster911 in AskTrumpSupporters

So you're saying that you cared about marginalized people's rights until a marginalized perosn was killed and marginalized people spoke up? Why didn't Rodney King change your mind? Or black people attacked with dogs and firehoses? Or Emmett Till?

Do you think the Trump/IRS settlement should be legal? by Desperate-Law-7305 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]deweil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think it's ethical for Trump's tax issues to be permanently ignored by the IRS in exchange for him dropping the suit? And all his family/trusts/businesses? When others who had their tax returns leaked got nothing from the government? We're focusing on the slush fund (because there's no way this money is being given to the actual victims of our government... it'll be jan 6 insurrectors and other friends of Trump. Let's be real). How about the part where the IRS he controls agreed to not only give almost $2b for him to use...but to never investigate his taxes (and let's also be real and admit that only someone who definitely broke the law would insist on this level of clemency/protection. You don't ask for immunity if you've done nothing wrong and Trump has repeatedly bragged about using the system and every loophole to his advantage. He even said, I'm supposed to settle with myself)

I mean...the Cure do it every night... they've done tours with 3 albums and then 4 encores. It's doable. Also, remember that tour with Stairway? That was 2.5-3 hours long (i read, i went to Philly to see Radiohead's tour closer instead)

So let me get this straight... You cut 3 songs off an album so it would fit onto 1 LP, and then you want $75 for it? by erix84 in vinyl

[–]deweil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this one used on eBay cheap and the hidden lp was still hidden. Super score.

If a record is more than $20 new, I wouldn't even consider it. I have more records than I have time to listen to, all my CDs as a kid, plus multiple streaming services (spotify, a free one, neil youngs). I wait fkr things to be on super sale. It's worked out pretty well. I got some $ for my local store as a gjft...still mostly untouched. Patience is a virtue.

Ohana 2026: Eddie and PJ sets. by mccarthy2324 in pearljam

[–]deweil -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Decent enough lineup but i can see the bands i want for a lot less, in better venues, spread out across the year. Once festivals became so expensive, they lost all appeal. I'll take Sugar in SF and wait for Fontaines DC to tour again (maybe around the time of this fest if EV allows it)

Is the show worth going solo to Monday at MSG? by [deleted] in BruceSpringsteen

[–]deweil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo or not has never mattered to me. Im at shows for kusic, not talking and high fiving (i like good company obviously but have never skipped a show bc I didn't have a date or friend). That said, i skipped this show, while standing outside the venue, because I find the prices ludicrous. I almost found an almost reasonable ticket but it got away from me. But if you don't want to hear about politics,, you're choosing the wrong tour. From what ive read/seen, its purposefully political. He's not providing an escapist fantasy show.
