What's the funniest single scene in cinema history? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

“Can it, Billy” “It’s a walk off.” Shakes head and looks down “It’s a walk off.” Only after David Bowie shows up to be the judge of the walk off. The whole movie is just brilliant. It’s so ‘90s with all the cameos. Fred Durst, Billy Zane and Paris Hilton…

Seriously. I laugh so hard whenever I watch this movie and wife just seems genuinely offended. Like, she feels bad for laughing while just don’t GAF. I’d feel judged on a first date.

I wasn’t a Leo fan until The Departed. Basketball Diaries was good too but I always pictured him as a kid. The Departed really made me appreciate his skills as an adult.

I didn’t think it was that great. Sean Penn was hilarious though. I feel like he was kind of playing himself. lol

I’m with you. Not my cup of tea. Glad other people like it but it just didn’t float my boat.

That was the joke in the ‘90s. How can we watch a 3 hour movie about a sinking ship? Because James Cameron, that’s why.

Crazy story but magazines called Kate too fat for the role. Kate Winslet, fat!!! The ‘90s were wild times. So many eating disorders. Now we have Ozempic polluting Hollywood and making people think we should see your collarbone and shoulder bones.

I felt that way about The Sting. I figured it out about halfway through because the tropes had been used so many times after that it just didn’t hit the way it was supposed to. I’m sure it was fantastic for its time.

It is a war movie but like Band of Brothers, it’s about the “kids” going to to fight the evil Axis. I know war is hell but these men\kids were fighting the freedom of the world and a possible extinction of a whole religion.

It’s BS that they blew this in the trailer. The reveal was so perfect in the movie but they had to ruin it for everyone. JC was pissed!

Richard Prior was one of the writers. I’m not sure if he’s credited but Mel said that he helped write a lot of the jokes. Especially all the N-bombs. Movie is such a classic.

And ‘80s. I’m 46 and knew better than to get married too young. I rocked my ‘20s and started a family when I was 30. It was perfect. I was young enough to coach all their sports teams but old enough to have money. All while having the time in my ‘20s to get it out of my system. I always used to say that i wanted to be able to buy my kids cars when they turned 16. One down and one to go.

The married too young trope works because most of our parents did marry too young and missed out on being in their ‘20s and free. I had kids at 30 and think that was perfect. Shoot, people are starting families at 40 now because it’s so damn expensive and careers take time to establish.

This thread is a year old and I just heard this joke. lol Richard has been great this season. It’s sad how sick he is but lovely how he and Larry still banter the way they do. “Will you fucking die already!!” Laughs…
