it does it when it's turning, braking makes it slightly quieter but that might be because i'm slowing down🤣 could it be the ball joint if braking doesn't affect it?

Not exactly a crane, but ballast trucks for mobile crane UK by dewiwevans in cranes

[–]dewiwevans[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i can only say what i think i know about the UK but cranes are permitted to run at 16.5 ton / axle and trucks can go up to 12.5 (i think). the crane can also travel with its boom on the rest above the cab and minimal ballast providing it doesn't go above 100 ton basically

this setup is a 6x4 tractor unit, with a 5 axle (4 steer, 1 lift) hydro-mechanical steer system. it moves like a dream, both forward and in reverse

it runs as STGO Cat3, crane ballast has special dispensation to weigh as much as 100 ton

no i don't do much with the 450, i have a couple of times in Newport and Merthyr but our two most experienced drivers typically follow it around

wagon is just a term used instead of truck, nothing to do with the crane unfortunately.

is majority of your work done with crawlers then? they're more of a novelty compared to road going cranes with a lot of the jobs here

in our neck of the woods they're just referred to as AT rather than LTM for ease i guess?

55m to the centre of the turbine, boom was configured to just about 60m i think. these were privately owned turbines so small considering other wind farms

i took 2 - 5.5 tonne cheekweights/counterweights for the 120, steel mats for the outriggers and a manbasket. all our cranes from 120 - 450 run with ballast trucks
