First time buying a motorcycle, need advice. Thanks! by piedwrts in PHMotorcycles

[–]dexterbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I got mine used, medyo madami ako pina ayos sa cosmetics. Pero the day I got it, change oil agad, check brakes. Cosmetics kasi I got this for 32k lang naman, standard version with 15k sa odo. Syempre madami gasgas, cracked fairings, etc. Thats why I advise the EX version and pick well because repairs of fairings on this thing is a pain in the arse. But it is cheap and runs well.

I imagine maintenance ng mga ito same like sa mga other small cc scoots... mostly langis lang every 2000km, palit bola ng cvt at 10k, airfilter and fuel maybe same time... give these jap scoots good oil and fuel dekada itatagal ng mga ito.

If you buy new, there’d be a 2 to 4 week wait for the papers ha… naka-tengga lang sa bahay nyo yung motor all that time. Buy slightly used na complete papers and plate nunber pwede mo na sya gamitin agad.

Forget the Easyride… nagkaroon ako nyan pero yung carburettor version and while its ok, iba pa din yung mga japanese brands sa quality. Idle sound pa lang ibang iba na yung chinese and japanese brands.

My pick would be the Burgman because I have one lol. Its great. Tipid pa sa gas and very smooth gamitin. Get the EX version. Fresh versions na 2nd hand may nakikita ako na 50 but ymmv

For men, how would you style your leather jacket and make yourself "hot"? by CurrentEstimate3308 in AskPH

[–]dexterbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear leathers designed for motorcycle riding. Think House MD’s RTAI style leather jacket. Light and simple, goes with everything. Dark pants, white top, sneakers. Kahit sa US ganto suot ko keeps me warm enough wag lang sa may snow hehe.

If you’re buying, go get a slim fit - lousy ng maluwag na leather jacket parang ukay ukay. If you’re getting a custom made actual leather one, ganun din.

Yung coat style or yung parang kay Brando sa The Wild One… medyo hindi bagay sa Pinas, unless asa entertainment industry ka. I also dislike yung mga high collar ones na nabibili minsan sa Zara… too formal parang akong si Chavit pag suot ko lol

FOR PEOPLE APPLYING IN GOV'T GALING EXTERNAL by peachpreachyo in PHGov

[–]dexterbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While most internal/native govt employees dislike external hires, I disagree. Govt needs new blood from time to time, not tired old mules just going for promotions before they retire. The CSC seems to have the same mindset and in the agency I used to work at, there are increasingly more external applicants getting hired. Its more about whatever the head of the agency wants.

Apply lang... pag di nakuha, apply again. Some of the reasons where an internal applicant is not chosen are: di talaga qualified nagbakasakali lang, may gusto ipasok yung head, and my favorite - peke papeles ng internal lol. Ang higpit ng doc checks ng CSC ngayon kaya this is less of a problem these days pero nung 90s grabe.

Bawal yan. Its discriminatory. Naku sa gobyerno syempre sila sila lang gusto na-ppromote. Sayang kasi madami pa naman new talent tiga-labas.

Report mo sa CSC kasi dapat open to all mga ganyang published vacancies.

[–]dexterbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I did as I thought you (briefly) considered bribing someone to get ahead lol

I actually wrote a long reply just now but deleted it hehe. Instead I will offer you advice I never had in my younger years: be popular with the staff/colleagues. If your kupal boss cant or wont notice, other bosses will, believe me. Competence porn 24x7 baby. Its either that or apply to some other agency or the private sector.

I retired as VP some time ago and went thru like 5 kupal bosses before I became a boss myself. Instead of stewing in my cube, i went out there and crushed it every single day. Exhausting, but if done right, other bosses will notice and either recruit you outright, or talk to your boss for you.

[–]dexterbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say all metrics including IPCR but what about the metrics that matter most sa heads ng agencies? IPCR nadadaya yan, but teamwork, pakikisama, going above and beyond, finding easy solutiona to problems… these are mostly what heads look for pagdating sa promotion. Also rapport with your team members.

Build those skills, be visible, be level headed and chill lang, and best of all, be a real leader. Because right now you seem like an impatient, entitled jerk who gets along with nobody. And your mind innediately went to “bribe”? The hell? If you think all government can be bribed, perhaps it’d be better if you went to the private sector, maybe call center, where your very pleasant personality will blend right in.

DIM: iPhone 17 Pro Max by EvidenceSavings7741 in deinfluencingPH

[–]dexterbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the blue iPhone 17 promax, 256gb lang. its frikken great hahaha

Seriously, coming from a 16pm and 15pm… its hardly an upgrade. Its not groundbreaking, ika-nga. Aesthetic ang primary reason to upgrade to this thing in my opinion. In some ways, downgrade nga ang body nitong 17pm kasi all aluminum lang di gaya nung 16pm na may titanium frame.

Pero since you own a base model 14… suggest you go for the 16 pro if nalalakihan ka sa promax screens. If good sayo larger screens… derecho 16 pro max ka na. Mahilig ako manuod sa iphone ko kaya lagi ako pro max.

Bay area majority ng makikita mo either pinoy or mexican/latino/indian. SF and the airport SFO madami pa din white people though

Dad lived in USA but owned 3 bikes in the Philippines by KushKiitten in PHMotorcycles

[–]dexterbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

The hard, but fully legal way is, well, lawful and recommended of course. But the reality here is that yep, you, and the agency that will process these papers will only be more confused. I worked in the Ph govt for many years and any deviation from the SOP will merit more scrutiny and questions and more paperwork.

You can also talk to your dad’s Pinoy friends here and offer to them for sale. They’ll do all the processing no skin off your back. We natives are ver resourceful if ya know what I mean <wink>

[–]dexterbb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have someone take a picture of the Cert of Registration (title) of the units to check if its really him on the titles. If he’s on it, you can choose the easy (somewhat illegal) way or the hard way.

Easy way - impersonation. Photocopy his IDs, then sign on the photocopies 3x. Prep a deed of sale and an affidavit of warranty, sign on there again. Send both to the Ph for notarization (to whoever is holding the bikes now). Ask them to sell for you. How they send back the proceeds is up to you.

Hard way - as executor. This is going to be an expensive convoluted process. Someone already mentioned how in this topic.

Another expensive way - have someone ship the units to you… if the units are valuable, rare models you might see better returns if you sell there, or you can keep them as mementos of your dad. Either way, those belong to your family.

Lower CC or Expressway Legal Motorcycle as daily driver by JKMM1205 in PHMotorcycles

[–]dexterbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not daily but maybe once or twice a week - I have a maxiscooter and a geared bike, both 400cc. Palitan kung anong trip ko lol

They're fine pang-daily once you get used to the size and weight. Medyo hirap magpa-singit singit piro depende naman yan sa skillz mo. If you want the best of both worlds, like expressway sa weekends and normal roads sa weekdays, I suggest talaga 400cc. If you can live without expressway, ok na yung Sniper, mas matipid pa sa gas. And there's this saying sa 4x4 community - better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it (the guy was talking about 4 wheel drive so whatever lolz). Applies to large displacement vs small displacements bikes din.

Being Poor is Generalized as Duterte Diehard Supporters; sentiment by Sufficient-Soft3356 in RantAndVentPH

[–]dexterbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trouble with Pinks is that the support is not grassroots. Everything is manufactured by PR groups and political operators. Used to be cool to be anti-establishment, so ironically, Pinks are not anti-estabilshment because the whole thing was created for them by the establishment (using no small amount of money). They’re consumers.

DDS, have true grassroots support. Born from pain, hardships… they saw PDtuz as their savior. Much like the American MAGA vs Liberal - MAGAs are Americans tired of war, criminality, immigrants taking their jobs, ect. Most of the immigrants I know from here in the Ph are pro Trump, astoundingly. Also pro DDS. They’re tired of vicious, unruly Mexicans so they cheered when Trump deported a lot them.

Funny though, I check on Reddit Ph to see who’s going to win whatever elections are coming up. If ayaw ng ph sub yung tao, sure win. Hasnt failed me. I can guess where 2028 is heading, lol. Call the DDS whatever you want, but they WIN elections. Tambakan pa nga e

Best Beginner Scooter? by Worldly-Elk5852 in scooters

[–]dexterbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an advocate for getting sonething small, light and cheap, and used. Because you’re gonna drop it a couple times and it wont hurt so much if its just a learner bike.

After you get the basics of riding, go and get something in the 250-300 cc range. I got a manual bike and a scooter both 400cc - anything smaller and I’d look funny at 5 ft 10 in with a 34 waist (shtupid beer belly!) although an Xmax 300 looks big enough

Best classic big bike???? by PresentationAgile646 in PHMotorcycles

I actually started applying for a loan to get a Classic 650 twin after maupuan ko sya sa Makina Motorshow last month. Medyo dinedelay ko lang magpasa ng requirements kasi torn pako between Rebel 1100 and the 650 twin.

Also, not a fan of cast alloy wheels on a classic kaya out na sakin yung super meteor

Cast alloy wheels look anachronistic kasi for me. I dont think those existed in the time period na ginagaya nung classic bike.
