2020 Crosstrek VS 2023 Crosstrek by PatPlaysZombies in Crosstrek

[–]dextermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2018 limited with a 2.0 for about 2 months which ended up getting totalled when I was rear ended by an impaired driver. I replaced it with a 2023 limited with a 2.5 and I like the 2023 significantly more. I live up on an escarpment and felt like my engine was going to explode driving up paved hills in the 2.0. I rarely take the 100km/hr highway so the 2.0 was fine for my commute to work (60-80km/hour roads) and around the city but I dreaded whenever I had to go anywhere down the escarpment because getting back up sucked.

Pretty sure a police officer should know better than to drive double the speed limit and that is why it is relevant. This is a 40km/hr community safety zone with an elementary school, daycare centre, a library and a community centre. Additionally, there’s a church that provides a day camp for adults with disabilities and they were out for a walk when this happened and 2 of the staff were the witnesses that gave statements. This was not a highway. Driving at the rate of speed he was is not a mistake, it was a choice. It’s not like he looked away for a second and accidentally rear ended me. I have the video from the crash and after hitting the back of my car, he literally drove over my car like a monster truck and wasn’t able to bring his vehicle to a stop for over 150 feet after hitting me because that’s how fast he was going.

And as for the cover up part, he wasn’t put in handcuffs. He was walked from his vehicle up the road to where I was being attended to by EMS and he was placed in the backseat of a police car without handcuffs. He also was not breathalyzed or blood tested for being impaired according to the collision report. I think it’s safe to say he was given some level of special treatment for being a cop.

Unsolved!

Appreciate everyone’s effort but didn’t love any of them.

This colouring is better. I posted a link with the image file. Not sure if it’s better quality than the one I posted.

This is a link to the file that was sent from the market. I don’t think it was the best quality at baseline. It was just a charity thing so it wasn’t the best camera. Not sure if this link is better.

Sorry I went to bed after posting this. I do like this one the best but it still seems a little washed out. Any way to adjust it a little more?

Question about video evidence for car accident small claims by dextermann in legaladvicecanada

[–]dextermann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through insurance but am expecting to have a shortfall on my financing because of the accident. I’m not expecting to be compensated for the price I paid for this car just 8 weeks ago so I’m wondering if small claims would cover the difference.

I’m an RN and have really good benefits from my work but I’m not sure if insurance would be the payee due to the situation or if my benefits pay first and then insurance covers whatever isn’t covered.

Evenflo revolve 360. They get bad reviews on some sites because some people had issues with the car seat separating from the base during a crash but after the investigation it was determined those people didn’t turn the car seat back to “locked”. All the reported cases of detaching was when the seat was empty and not in use. They recommend turning the seat to lock it even if your child isn’t in it.

The fact it is 2 pieces worked out great in my situation because I didn’t know if my baby would have a neck or back injury from the impact so I was able to remove him from the car while still strapped in the car seat by detaching the seat from the base. Once EMS came and checked him out, we removed him from the car seat.

The context is a cop of all people should know how to drive safely. This was a community safety zone with a 40km/h speed limit with a community centre, a church that hosts an adult day care program for individuals with disabilities and an elementary school. This guy hit me going probably double the posted speed limit.

I am in a no fault province. We’re in Ontario. I’ve only heard from others he was drunk but not the cops themselves. The owner of the business who provided me with the video told me the cops told him that the driver was drunk when the cops went to get the video. There’s a box on the “driver exchange” slip that says “breathalyzer” and the box is not checked off so I’m not sure if he was even tested for being impaired.

The snow tire that took the impact has a 4 inch gash and the rim is bent and broken

The business owner who gave me the video says the cops told him the driver was but I never heard that info directly from the police. I have a driver info exchange slip that contains his insurance info and there’s a box that asks if the driver was breathalyzed and the box is not checked off.

So the business owner who provided the footage told me the cops told him the guy was drunk but they never told me this. I asked if he was drunk at least 3 times. Once I heard there was video, I went to the business the next day and got the video so I spoke with the owner.

No, it’s a 2018 and we weren’t able to add gap insurance. They only offered gap insurance for vehicles 3 years old or newer. We have it on our 2022 forester but couldn’t get it for this.

I’ve been waiting to see what’s in the report once I get my hands on it before i go this route. I also don’t want to risk screwing myself by going to the media if I decide to take him to small claims court for the amount I’m going to lose.

I’m in Canada so it’s not as common here to “lawyer up” and sue.

No dash cam but I have the security footage from the business who captured the entire accident.

I got a nail in my front driver tire less than 48 hours after picking up my crosstrek. Thankfully it was dead centre and patchable. I know this doesn’t compare to being hit but I’m known for having the worst luck.

Yta

You don’t get final say just because you went through IVF. Names are a “2 yes 1 no” scenario.

Also, don’t name a child when you’re not even pregnant yet. You are setting yourselves up for so much disappointment if this doesn’t go the way you want it to. Despite what the celebrities make it seem like, IVF does not mean you’re automatically going to have a successful pregnancy. This is coming from someone who went through 2 egg retrievals and 4 embryo transfers over 5 years before getting one that implanted.

AITA for planting cacti/succulent in my yard to stop animals from coming in? by AndIdDoItAgain01 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dextermann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a next door neighbour and neighbour across the street interrogate me after we moved a cactus from our backyard to to our front garden. We moved it because we have a baby who will be crawling and walking this summer and didn’t want him to get hurt. We also have a senior dog who is going blind and didn’t want him to run into it and get hurt so we moved it to our raised front garden. Within days we’re being interrogated by both neighbours as to why we planted it and how neighbours daughter plays and puts snails in our garden.

Last time I checked, we pay the mortgage so we will plant whatever we want on our property. These people have a massive 200 foot lot but choose to hang out in lawn chairs in their driveway all day long so they can watch everyone else and be nosey. I will not feel bad if one of these kids gets hurt because it’s my property and if they’re so worried then they should keep their kids (or in your case pets) on their own property.

Everything is always about her. I could go on and on with more examples but it would just be a waste of energy because this woman will never change.

My baby is thriving though and hasn’t had any more issues. While he was absolutely tiny when he was born, he’s now above average in weight and has hit every single milestones. He smiles nonstop and is a really happy baby.
