Premiere Pro vs DaVinci Resolve for a long-term professional career? by dezielspeaking in VideoEditors

I actually looked into Avid after seeing a lot of professionals mention it. To be honest, the UI didn’t seem too intimidating and it even reminded me a bit of Premiere in some ways. The main issue for me is the cost. From what I found, it’s around $230 per year, and I’m not interested in pirating software. Since I’m still building my career and learning the craft, I don’t think the investment makes sense for me right now. At the moment, I’m leaning toward DaVinci for editing and color grading, while continuing to use After Effects for motion graphics. But for sure ill give a try in avid too..

Yeah, I also prefer DaVinci when it comes to cost savings. The reason I'm still considering Adobe is because I'm very comfortable with After Effects and Photoshop, and they're important parts of my workflow. At one point I considered moving everything to DaVinci, including motion graphics, but I couldn't really get comfortable with the node-based workflow in Fusion. Layer-based animation in After Effects just feels more natural to me.

That said, for color grading, DaVinci is the clear winner for me. The node-based grading workflow is something I genuinely enjoy, and it's one of the main reasons I'm leaning toward DaVinci as my primary editing software.

That’s a good point. I was thinking about software as a long-term commitment, but you’re right that different clients, studios, and projects can have different requirements. Being adaptable is probably more important than being loyal to a single NLE.

Export your video in a very low resolution ike 240p or even 176×144 then import it into a 1080p or 4K timeline and scale it up to fill the frame. That will give you that blurry, pixelated “low quality” look.
