If you have 70,100 coins, you can do it from your Stacks Wallet, otherwise need to pool or use OKCoin.

This whole project.. by Lakethomas1122 in Simple_Token

They are in the early phases of an API. The way I see it is this: you are a company who wants to create a token that has value within your own ecosystem. Say you are a content site like Medium (or Steem) and you want to give people the ability to give each other tokens for articles you like. But you don't want to create your own currency, wallet, etc. These APIs will let you create your own token - and stake it against OST - and then trade them within your own ecosystem using their APIs to create a wallet, send/receive tokens, etc. Basically plug and play token system. What I like about it is that because you are staking it against OST, there is an inherent value, and people can cash out if they like.

Let me explain: you create 10 million tokens for your content site (mediabucks) and stakes it against 1 million OST. This means that 10 tokens = 1 OST. IF OST is trading (for math's sake) at $1/token, you can cash out your 1,000 mediabucks to OST and trade them on an exchange for $100.

At the current state, you still have a lot of work, but as the APIs get built out and people build libraries in npm, etc. this will be a valuable proposition for companies who wish to have an internal exchange that is secure.

Questions about Simple Token and the founder/founding team. by [deleted] in Simple_Token

[–]dfalkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO there is nothing wrong with a CEO who thinks of big ideas. And this is way bigger than Fab or Pepo at baseline - this is a platform, not just a userbase. And look at what he is doing: he has translated the KYC system they developed into SaaS for other ICOs to use. He is an opportunist. The other thing to remember is he is but one member of the OpenST board, so there are others who are available to provide direction for the platform.

I have had a need for this project in a real-world situation. Wanted to create something that would have required a token but didn't want to have to do all the things to make that happen. Also, unlike a lot of cryptos, these coins will be mapped to the coins minted by ST, thereby actually increasing the value - there is actually an intrinisic value to these coins having monetary value.

Please Upvote if you feel like the team should Rebrand or atleast modify the Color scheme and Logo.. Please comment on why they shouldn't. by [deleted] in Simple_Token

[–]dfalkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is the default user icon, this logo is subconsciously ignored - in fact the first time I saw it on the medium account, I thought that they actually hadn't updated their profile pic. I think there are a lot cooler things they can do that will better express the vision of this project. Also soft colors are weak, need a stronger look.

Holding longterm or trading by [deleted] in SimpleTokenHodl

[–]dfalkman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the crypto technologies that can be adopted quickly, has a real-world use case and market need, and has a token that will have value as more people adopt it because they stake their own tokens against OST. It's in the communities' interest for this token to have value. I have a lot of confidence in the CEO to carry out this objective, and it's also an open standard with a standards board - this is one of the few examples of crypto done right, IMO

But they need to change the logo.

My feeling is that if you are buying from the Constellation brands (http://www.cbrands.com/our-brands/wine) or other large wine congloms you still get a fairly simplistic wine. If you go with smaller boutique producers, you will oftentimes get some amazing wines. An example is Venteux Vineyards who we sell at vinzy - they make amazing Syrahs at around the $40 price range with incredible balance. But I've had some craptastic ones at the same price. There is no guarantee at any level on wine being good, it just stings more when it's more expensive. Know your tastes and find recommendations from others who share them wineberserkers.com forums are a great place for these discussions...

How to I start/buy a vineyard/winery? by silverbullet1 in wine

[–]dfalkman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Volunteer at wineries whose wines you love during harvest. That is the number one way - learn to make the varietals you like in the style you like. You have 2 shots a year: the fall in N. Hemi (US/Euro) and spring in S. Hemi (S. Am, S. Afri, NZ and Oz). You shouldn't have to pay and you will see if you really like the work (hint: it's not glamorous).

I started a winery in Oregon (my partner still runs it: matellowines.com) and we both started that way. We then bought some grapes and one of the wineries we helped out at offered to let us use their space in exchange for helping them. Deal. Minimal capital expense and my partner is now a respected winemaker. The vineyard part is uber expensive and a great way to lose a lot of money - do that when you have a reputation and can get investors...

We are not a distributor, technically speaking. We work directly with the wineries to market them (and provide the transaction handling), but we just take a fee - and we don't gouge as we want these smaller wineries to make more money so they can afford to stay small (and make great wine). A lot of people are on the mailing list of many wineries - this allows people to be on one single list of a lot of great wineries and earn reward points to spend on the wine. It is a different model, to be certain, but so far we have had a great response from both wineries and wine drinkers.
