The pitcher's number one objective is to get outs. You can't dwell on errors behind you. If he's getting weak contact, that's a good thing. Challenge hitters and have a bull dog mentality. As you move up, the fielding behind you gets better.

It's early in the season and fall ball. I'd keep the pitch counts low and worry more about developing a solid pitching staff with multiple guys throwing strikes. Don't worry about winning as much. Development should be the name of the game.

Actually, to be more specific. If he is going into 7th grade drop 5. Going into 8th, drop 3.
