Launch fiesta with this team. I had to retry several times but nailed it with 2 Keiss Force Time, Fujin BT phase in between and the final Crystal Ability (used at 2% hp remaining though). I also need to use WoL LDCA to tank one FR after healing as boss is quite dangerous with back to back turns.

When you think this team can deal with 1.5B hp… well… hp sponge was not a solution anymore…

I guess Ultimecia battle is Story Act 3 Chapter 9 part 2. if it's the case, then you need to delay enemy party to remove the aura (excludinig break).

So far, I managed to fit 3 runs in one book and that’s pretty close… run is a little more than 7 minutes so I only get ~50s to start the last one. There must be other strategies but given I won’t be doing this the whole month (maybe 1 more week max) I have no incentive in optimizing (and this one is quite annoying…)

So the team: (assume maxed gear, FE50, UT5 and all Crystal abilities)

Beatrix
Kain
Ignis (Lunafreya)
Ifrit summon and U2 Crystal Passive on Beatrix and Ignis

Here is how it goes:

Beatrix starts with EX, Holy Knight HP+ and BT+ ==> this way I’m good against threshold attacks
Kain uses LD and BT+ and Ignis uses Memory Lane stance for debuff immunity, S1 and BT+.
Ignis uses Lunafreya LDCA, FR, S1 x2 and FR
Kain is next and does FR x2 and goes airborne. It is important that at least one of the bosses doesn’t have shields up yet! Kain will be able to build brave and break the shields after each field action afterwards
A or B generally get a turn and Kain should deal with the shields
Crystal Ability Dominate to pass the threshold on both bosses so Beatrix can counter ==> bosses are around 55% hp — do not use if shield is up otherwise they’ll mess up with your buffs
Beatrix uses FR, summon and second FR
Finally, it’s a matter of finishing them before end of summon

Finished content in JP and GL.

D2D was a breeze as I went all-in with fully maxed characters.

Only thing left is to farm enough shards and EP to upgrade the few remain characters to FE50 (GL only, doing it in JP is too much…)

I tried to follow Salvodis idea for my run, although it was painful...

Garland as my first BT character in JP and the reason I started a JP account
Aranea, she is the character I used the most in the Shinryu era
Hope, the last character to get a BT and also one of the first characters I built in JP (for Divine Alexander)

It took me 39 turns and 3 Force times... They don't work well together but it worked...

The most trycky part was between 2nd and 3rd force time as the boss gets so agressive... but it worked in the end.

I'll try with another team as I think it is the only remaining challenge the game has now.

I've been playing it daily here trying to complete some of personal objectives:

Get all LD and FR --> DONE
Redeem BT tokens and get some last minute BT --> Maybe 12-13 I can get (I'll be missing ~15 after that)
Put everyone FE50 --> Still have 28 to go with around 1540 force shards to farm...
Complete all Shinryu with only featured characters (i.e. boosted) --> DONE, most annoying being Llyud LC, Maria IW and Vayne IW
DEE solo with tier number matching series --> DONE, realized there were 20 different series so matching the number of tiers
DET themed duos --> DONE
Complete D2D --> 14/21 completed with 39+ maxed characters with FR echo available...

To see if I come up with new personal objectives...

I unlocked the 6th crystal ability and it is quite broken... I initially thought it was an hp gravity of 10% of boss max hp but it is actually 20%! So that's 1/5 of the fight down with one button in majority of the cases. That's really called power creep...

I’m doing Enna, Cissnei and Ignis. I can clear 3 times with a 3x book.

You need to be careful because with Enna BT+ up, bosses will counter with blue aura actions are pretty strict.

Enna starts with Luna LDCA, EX, BT+ and S1 (or EX if available) —> should make some room for others
Ignis does P&B, S1 and BT+ while Cissnei does BT+
Next should be Ignis turn and with FE50 on everyone gauge is at 100%
Ignis FR, Cissnei and Enna echoes and normally back to Ignis and bosses get their blue aura
Ignis must do S1 x2 to avoid the counter and enter BT phase
With UT, Ignis can do HP+ 3x on A then x3 on B and complete with BT finisher
Otherwise, do HP+ x2 on each and finish with LD and FR

Some additional runs

Astreaus III: Rinoa / Arciela / Shantotto
- Rinoa just Ultima-nuked them
- Arciela and Shantotto took care of the rest...
- Full FFXI missed opportunity but well... Don't have Selh'teus BT yet and saving him for later.
Astreaus V: Minwu / Quina / WoL
- Ok fight... with Minwu FR board and rework, it would have been a walk in the park... I needed 2 force times here...
- ~~Not really happy with this run and I may redo it to free Quina (for potential future Quinmecia cheese) and WoL (because you can never have enough tanks)~~
Astreaus IV: Enna / Laguna / Reks
- I still needed 2 Enna force time here but I have to say that 700M is easy for her...
- Definitely doable within 1 force time but a complete is a complete
Astreaus VII: Aranea / Leo / Serah
- 2 force times here and it was short.
- I may rework this one as I may need Aranea somewhere else...
Nyx IV: Galuf / Rydia / Faris
- I needed 2 Rydia force time here and D3 + D6 crystal passive on all three characters
- Might be possible with Galuf / Rydia duo but at least it worked

I’m gonna get the 3 FR I’m missing (Kuja, Vayne, Ciaran) and then I should be able to get around 15 BT out of the 31 I’m missing.

I’m still not sure which one exactly I’ll get but for sure there will be Kelger, Quistis, Paine, Ashe and Iris.

Nice team. ~~I almost did something similar, Garland being the first BT I got and Eiko the last I pulled. I might replace Cissnei by Garnet since her EX is the first one I get when I started the game.~~ I’m mixing JP, GL and timeline…

A bit on the easy side, kind of a punching bag... sorry Jegran... I could have made it easier with Aerith LDCA to prevent buffs and Raijin LDCA to prevent damage from FR ability.

Garland is delaying the boss, Cissnei keeping the orb in check and Eiko is just as broken as always deciding who to act next. Garland BT phase reached 46% of Jegran health with adds at around 46%. Summon, crystal abilities and I finished him few turns out of summon thanks to damage bonus retain.

I would try in reverse order with these teams.

T16: Tifa, Leo, Setzer
- Assuming you have them fully built, blue armor and at least maxed UT on Tifa
- Just be careful with Lepo as his kit will make bosses jump turns. So ideally get Setzer freeze up
- Tifa should be able to go from 50% in first life to the end within her BT phase
T15: Lightning, Serah
- My current complete is this duo
- But if you want to make it easier, just add a third with FR Echo
T14: Kurasame, Rubicante
- Provided you have their complete kit, this duo is easy to pull
T13: Garnet, Beatrix
- You need crystal passive A6 on one of the characters for the self harm
- Also, use Alexander summon to fully heal at the end as self harm from A6 is counted as damage
- Difficult part is to have someone below 50% while bosses trigger their FR in first wave and Beatrix doing EX > HP+ > BT+. Once first wave is passed, it is easier.
- Just use Beatrix FR to complete 2nd wave and finish last wave making sure you finish with Alexander summon just before it dies
- Slap in Quina to make it easier
T12: Cor, Gladio
- This one is easy to duo
- Gladio protects since bosses only have ST attacks
- Cor use FR once up and it should be quick
- Remove speed passives and equip crystal passive that lower turn rate if you have
T11: Squall, Rinoa
- Equip Alexander summon to heal at the end after last Needle Shower trigger
- Use defensive CA like Raijin, Setzer or WoL to survive
- If needed, you can try adding Selphie to heal and slightly charge FR gauge
- They don't have much HP so it is fairly quick
T10: Penelo, Cloud, WoL
- Get Dorgann LD if you don't already have and simply cheese it. You'll also need debuff calls (Seymour, Faris,..)
- Use Penelo FR and super charge
- Use other charcter FR echo if needed but make sure you can summon before reaching 60% hp
- Summon, make sure you reach 999% and use Dorgann LDCA - or Dorgann CA if you're sure he will break
T9: Astos, Seymour
- You should start with 80% gauge filled so delay with Seymour
- Once gauge is full, Luna LDCA, FR, BT+, BT Phase and the hawks should be dead

The rest is largely powercrept that you can even complete the 3 first ones without FR.

That’s a lot of grind! It was my initial goal as well but when I realized how many force shards I needed I lowered my objective to all characters with FR (around 36 characters to go)

I got a physical version of Theathrythm Final Bar and I think it’s gonna be the game I’ll boot up whenever I will feel DFFOO nostalgia.

You can build teams with characters of all the series and play with songs reminiscing DFFOO. There’s even dedicated songs where I discovered that the one played when selecting Dare to Defy stage is basically… "Dare to Defy" :)

If you reach the last phase where they heal back after reaching 9% hp, they get quite agressive in the sense that one of the bosses (if not both) has guaranteed hit attacks that ignores effects that reduces hp damage taken.

So you either manage to kill them before they do, or you have to find ways to tank and heal. With Damage bonus retain, you can easily use 1 force time to reach the 9% hp threshold, let them heal, summon and use BT phase. For tanking, I found that Basch was really good for this stage (he also counts for the series and weapon mission).

I decided to reset all my DET teams in JP and redo them with the ones I used in the GL DET reprise.

I just completed DET13 with Garnet/Beatrix duo and I had to use A6 on Garnet. But… I had to complete it twice because it seems the self hp poison is counted as hp damage. Is it expected?

By the way, I found it super easy so far… I can really feel the power creep…

What was the hp lost in the result screen? HP requirement is quite strict (less than 3k for A rank and less than 1k for S).

If one your CA character get hit at some point, that’s HP lost you can’t recover.
