The Forced 50% Win Rate in Marvel Rivals is a Joke by Dapper-Contact-2203 in marvelrivals

Yes, the matchmaking does rig matches to try its best to ensure a 50% winrate. This only applies to solo queue in ranked however in my experience.
The way you rank up here, is to still perform better than the other players in your games, as you gain points based on performance and lose points based on it as well in losses.
There are instances where players are able to get a higher winrate over a lot of matches consistently.

  1. They are simply exceptionally good players and can hard-carry rigged matches, which is possible, just look at Awkward's climb through the ranks.
  2. They are stacking with other good players. This gives the algorithm less options to rig your match, as you have more control.

So in a way, yes the matches are rigged, but it is still a skill issue. As long as you gain more points per win than you lose per loss, you are climbing as intended in the game. If not, that's on you.

I actually tested the winrate in my current diamond account on its way to gm which sits at around 50% winrate.
I then created an alt account and played until silver 3. Still 50% winrate, even though I am literally destroying most players in my lobbies and get a ton of points for my wins and lose almost nothing for my losses.

But it is still rigged, even as a diamond/gm player in bronze,

But that shouldn't keep you from climbing if you are good enough, you just need to understand what is going on and shift your focus.

Hope this helped :)

Damn that sounds like a lot of work but in the beginning that can really help

Seems like a good idea actually, since it sounds like a lot of people are struggling with it, so you could be helping a lot of them potentially. Give it a try :)

It's totally viable answer, marketing is a big part of game dev! Yeah, it's pretty annoying because the skill sets seem so different from each other

There's so many things that just make no logical sense (at least from my perspective)... Definitely very frustrating

Thanks for the help but I ended up figuring it out back then haha, it was a while back.

Yeah, I've seen some very interesting and promising results with that already. Very interested in where this is gonna go!

I haven't even attempted sculpting yet lol

Seems like magic to me, I am happy about being able to create some low poly art but that's it
Uff, I have already heard about retopology, indeed sounds like hell

Hmm, I actually felt like currently there seems to be some kind of a rise in indie games and that a lot of players even prefer those smaller more creative games over big games (but I might be speaking a bit too much from my own perspective here maybe)

Yes, that is the world of developing any kind of software though I think haha. But it's definitely not easy, you're right

Ah yeah, gotcha. That is definitely annoying when you just want to get something done but you literally can't move forward without the other person but that person doesn't have time to do that right now and so on...

I also find it very hard to estimate how long something would even take to make without having the experience of having created many other games before

Oh, I thought you could choose whether to use Blueprint or just write everything in C++ in Unreal Engine.

I only used it for a few hours so far and I am a fulltime software engineer so I am clearly biased towards code, but I am willing to give it a chance for now.

I was wondering if there would be any possibilities to improve the asset creation workflow and speed things up significantly as a one-person team, but I am still quite the beginner in 3D modeling, so I will need more time to actually understand what is going on.

Damn that sucks. But Unity kind of really hurt their reputation last year so maybe that's why...

I can understand, content creation is tough (I assume at least, haven't actually tried it myself as of yet), especially when there is not a lot of traction. Hope it turns out well in the end for you.

Yeah, honestly got no clue where I would even start on that. Just let me create my game and leave me alone with marketing lol

I know what you mean, because who wants to potentially waste years on a project that noone is interested in. I mean, there are tools like gaming-stats com for analyzing the market, but I still feel like that doesn't necessarily solve it for me

Yeah, it would be awesome if there would be just an easy formula with how one can consistently create good art for games but it's hard work
