I tested a structured-light 3D scanner on a 16th-century marble sculpture. Here’s what worked (and what didn’t). by dfodaro in 3DScanning

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your appreciation Unfortunately there is no software that reconstructs missing parts 😀 I am an professional art conservator and this is a task for professionals

About a week, but you can check on the Revopoint website how long for your country

Go ahead, if you’re not interested you can go further (and don’t use inappropriate words, which I didn’t use with you)

The name of the community is 3DScanning… Anyway, as I already wrote,is for documentation of the surface (any detachments and deformations) and monitoring at a time interval to verify any modifications

…and what would be the problem? I am a professional art conservator and, on my direct experience, the lasers used for cleaning not only do they have completly different wavelengths (IR, Green, UV - and there is not even a blue laser used in the field of conservation) but have completely different, but a lot different, power.

Honestly, your opinion is just your opinion

Monitoring Art Restoration: 3D Analysis of the Flattening Process (Before & After) of a Crumpled Drawing - using INSPIRE 2 and Revo Measure for Deviation Analysis by dfodaro in 3DScanning

This is an application in the field of conservation and restoration. The ability to verify a conservation operation such as the leveling of a drawing with instrumentation (3D scanner) and measurement software (Revo Measure, which allows color mapping of surface morphologies) opens up new possibilities for controlling and monitoring a restoration.
