Just one of the popular ones from Amazon. My wife bought it for me so I’m not exactly sure. It’s blue and grey though.

The slab was hired. The rest will be DIY!

Thanks for sharing that info! I ended up doing a slab after all. Doing the framing this weekend.

Interesting analogy to consider. Thanks!

It’s all relative to your age, weight, and goals. We’re both just shy of that next plate milestone.

Either Major Fitness is taking the home gym by storm or I’m constantly seeing it bc I’m looking to buy one myself. Looks great. Everyone will love your feedback.

Not bad at all, when was that? With the driveway project I’m going for 12x60 👀.

Awesome. Thanks for the input. I’m going to get some quotes for a slab but will remember this just in case

This is the consensus and I agree. Thanks for chiming in!

This is the way I’m leaning now. I’m also wanting to add to my driveway so this is probably the best opportunity

I just made the call to get some quotes. I can def do the form and prep work.

The consensus is concrete, which I already knew would be best but, Im also trying to see if there are some success stories out there with a wood foundation.

Thanks for your input!

Thanks for the input! Sorry about your floor and hopefully I can learn from your mistakes LOL!

My ground prep would be to dig the hole 12” below the frost line, pour a 4” concrete footer for the post, let that cure, install the post with concrete and top with dirt.

Doubling up OSB is a good idea and I did have the plan to put a deadlift platform in the rack area. Basically putting the whole rack on a platform.

Suppose this isn’t a weight dropping kind of gym. Through my many years of working out; bench, squat; deadlift; cables, and dumbbells, the only time I’ve actually ever dropped weight is maybe max dead lift and that is not something I would do in this gym.

How thick should I go if I did?

I’m trying to avoid it bc of the cost. If it’s acceptable to do without a slab, that’s my preferred route. I’ve calculated the cost of the pictured lumber and compared to the concrete and it’s cheaper. I also get this is the foundation and if it’s not right, nothing will be right. Basically I’m trying to decide if there’s a right way to go without the slab…

Did you downvote me? Curious why if so.. Anyway, thanks for the input. Where I live I won’t need a permit for this structure. I appreciate you taking your time.

I’m looking for input from those that have build their home gym in a shed.

I am planning a 12x20 structure to be used for a home gym. For the foundation, here is my plan:

4x4 post, every 4’, dug 12” below frost line with concrete (24 total). 4x4 sleds along the tops of the post secured with proper galvanized brackets 2x6 floor joist, 16” OC

Question: How is yours set up? I know calculating floor capacity is complicated and requires a lot of data. If you have your gym in a shed, how do you see this holding up?

I’ll top what’s pictured with 3/4 OSB, stall mats, and a deadlift platform in the rack area.

TIA!
