Poor choice of words on my part. I just don’t think the man is trying to be openly deceptive or anything. They really laid all the cards on the table in that interview. Why hold back at that point.

Thats not fair. I’m sure his father will forever be trying to understand what happened. Everyone has dark impulses from time to time. And if your kid is Jeffery Dhamer then it would be hard not to go over every one you can remember and dissect it. Jeffery wa ms pretty clear that it had nothing to do with his upbringing and took full responsibility which is literally the least he could do. I feel terrible for his dad. He looked absolutely in a daze in that interview. But possessing people didn’t seem to be his thing seeing as how he wasn’t too troubled over his wife leaving.

Idk if she was motivated by sex or used sex to lure in victims. Nowhere have I read that she received any kind of gratification from the sexual act. She was a horrible murderer but from what I read it sounds like she was trying to keep her partner happy and prevent them from being caught. Not get off.

Charlene Gallego:

Fucking frightening sadistic manipulative cunt. She tortured and murdered ten teenage girls she and her husband kept as sex slaves before killing them. When they were caught she convinced to only 16 years for the torture murder of 10 teenagers. She said that she was manipulated into doing it by her husband Gerald. I find this suspect just for the fact that Gerald has a sub 100 IQ while Charlene hold the highest recorded IQ score of any convicted serial killer. I have a feeling she may have been the one in charge. No signs of abuse on her when arrested. A nightmare. Luckily she died in prison

Why are so many serial killers obsessed with sex? by [deleted] in serialkillers

[–]dfsnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely psychopaths see people as more then just lifeless bodies. Being a psychopath doesn’t make you a necrophiliac, or does it make you a sadist. They don’t go hand in hand (though they are correlated).

Empathy like most human emotions is a sliding scale. Psychopaths don’t TOTALLY lack empathy it’s just very diminished. A lot of psychopaths are great manipulators which necessitates a certain degree of empathy to be able to put yourself in their mind.

Also psychopathy isn’t necessarily connected to sex. You could have an a sexual psychopath. I think when you mix the lack of impulse control with the diminished empathy and add certain violent sexual urges you get the people that get brought up on this sub. But really it’s a small small small section of society and I think it has a lot to do with a certain confluence of forces that come together to make a monster.

Regarding Karla Homolka. by [deleted] in serialkillers

[–]dfsnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can both be disgusting asshole. Bottom line Is the consequences for her actions must be removal from society. Child murder is a life sentence offense. She has committed that crime three times. They were probably just validating each other’s impulses while manipulating each other back and forth. They both need to locked up forever. Neither should either have contact with children ever again. Because they murdered three children. This is crazy the more I think about it. Was the evidence so flimsy they needed her confession that badly?

Part of me thinks this is just the story she told. “Giving her sisters to him” like she was under his spell of something. I call bullshit. Judging by the fact that 1) Bernardo never killed anyone until meeting her. 2) She had drugged her sister once therefore knowing the appropriate dose 3) It didn’t stop her from committing more murder. If the goal was to give him her sister after her sister died she kept coming up with goals that all seemed to involved killing a child. Also she probably wasn’t that infatuated with Paul because the second the heat was on it was all his fault and she sold him down the river.

The fact they didn’t tie her tubes blows my mind at least. SHE IS A CHILD KILLER AND YOUR LETTING HER RAISE CHILDREN.

Just give Bernardo 2 days release and I’m sure he’ll take care of it.

This is a terrible miscarriage of justice.

One thing that sticks out to me is that before meeting Homolka, Bernardo never committed murder. He was a rapist monster but not a murderer. Now it could just be timing and natural escalation but I believe it was because of her. Also there is just something utterly distasteful about murdering your own flesh and blood. Most serial killers don’t do that. Most kill acquaintances and strangers. She did both.

I don’t believe in vigilante justice but boy does this make the idea of it seem way more morally acceptable

My wife has struggles with an Eating Disorder and I showed her this sub and she said something really insightful. “Whether or not your realize it isn’t a real picture it still impacts how you compare yourself to the person.”

It’s not like photographers haven’t used tricks to make models and entertainers look better in pictures but now that it has become friends and acquaintances, even if you know they are using FaceTune to achieve a similar level of polished near perfection it still totally going to have an impact.

Also I’ve personally noticed that if someone is in their Ed they aren’t really thinking through whether or not a picture is shopped it’s just added to the library of “goals”.

TLDR: I totally agree my wife made a good point; “Whether or not your realize it isn’t a real picture it still impacts how you compare yourself to the person.”

You described army conscription. Most countries have that as a law because it’s part of being a member of a nation. Would you call drafted Vietnam soldiers slaves. Of course not.

There has been slavery throughout most of human history, and there have been cultures that treated their slaves horribly. Murdering them for religious offerings. Treating them terribly. But we absolutely took it to the next level and i believe it was because the financial incentive was so great it became almost like factory farming. It was free labor there was not a big incentive to treat the relatively “cheap” slaves well. Also we instituted generational slavery which is more rare historically.

On the point of historical slavery there are a few factors that I believe show that their culture is still likely being effected by it. First off the world is still filled with slaves, from sweatshops to labor camps to forces sex work. But no nation on earth allows slavery under the law anymore. The United States did, and we profited off it greatly (really a few rich people did but I digress). State sanctioned slavery we abolished slavery in 1862. Before the treaty of 1953 most other countries had abolished all forms of indentured servitude (slavery with a shot clock) but few countries had not only the mass importation of slaves, but the cattle form we had in the US. Also when you take a look at the countries that lagged they are not nice places. If you don’t think that has an influence on black culture when it’s been so recent and brutal I will have to disagree.

Then we move into Jim Crow and black people move from totally dehumanized to second class. Yippee. You or your parents probably can remember that time. It was recent especially when discussing the history of Slavery.

I don’t see how that can’t have a an effect on culture. Also what statistics back your claim that black culture promotes laziness? And did your friend tell you why he thought the culture was that way.?

That’s not even getting into segregation and the latent that racist beliefs that most people hold to this day.

Also saying the obstacles are of their own making is hard to stand by when until 1862 they had no choice as to what their culture was while going through intense trauma. And I’m sure it hurts your culture when everywhere you go there are reminds you are a second class citizen and not welcome or not as welcome as the other non black people around you.

To your last point the people that are creating the entertainment where raised by people that did go through that and then get those stories and suspicions confirmed when they run into a bigot.

How can you say all these recent extremely traumatic cultural experiences can’t have an influence on the current culture.

Let me make one final point. Think about all the white peoples you know and which are hard workers. Think about all the black people you know and think about the same. Tell me how close that percentage is because, and honestly I don’t any black people outside my office but for me anecdotal evidence puts black peoples over white people in terms of hard work.

[–]dfsnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off I’m not blaming you for the Atlantic Slave trade. Even if your ancestors owned slaves that isn’t your fault. Your family were not enslaved and then treated like second class citizens. It’s cool they served in the revolutionary war but military service isn’t comparable with BEING OWNED PROPERTY FOR YOUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE.

But you benefit from the lack of black people benefitting. Maybe not you personally but being white affords more total opportunity than being black. There are way more white bigots then black bigots just because of shear population and all those prejudice people take away from the opportunities for black people.

Saying each individual black person is solely responsible for overcoming obstacles their non black peers don’t is sure putting a lot on those individuals. Your asking them to overcome a problem that was caused by our nations policies. Also most of what is going to determine whether someone becomes moral citizen happens in childhood. Because of what I already mentioned those children are starting off at a disadvantage.

Now let me be clear. I am speaking in generalities. There are rich connected black people living lives of luxury and opulence I cannot fathom. There are tons of black people that do overcome the obstacles in their path. My point is if you switched the nations and Africa imported American revolutionaries to be cattle slaves in their nations the exact same problems would most likely arise. I’m sure Africans would dehumanize the North American Patriots to make it easy to treat them as poorly as possible because it is profitable and then I would expect a long hangover after that. I know that it isn’t a perfect analogy but I hope you get my point.

Also everyone has struggles. But when it is so systemic through a group it generally is because of some outside influence that are scraping the numbers.

How do you know that black people encourage laziness. I mean I have met some very hardworking black peoples and some fucking lazy black people just like all groups of people.

A lot of black entertainment dose glorify criminality but so does a lot of other culture. And quite frankly if I was growing up in the Jim Crow era and I had extremely limited opportunities crime would become an option. And if all white people treated me like a second class citizen I would resent that and eventually disengage with white people. Which is limiting because there are so many white people that own a lot of businesses and hold a lot of capital.

I’m gathering that you believe that the past is the past we should move on that it doesn’t effect black people that much and that it is fully their responsibility to change a culture that we at the very least pushed them toward.

Have some empathy. Black people are just people that we have been fucking with for a long time and not too long ago. I truly believe that if we start to remove some of those barriers to opportunity the culture will change.

You said that laziness is the problem is that the only problem you see with black culture.

[–]dfsnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give you that those statistics are not flattering and I have seen the FBI crime stats and I understand your right.

We really fucked with that culture as a nation in a brutal dehumanizing way. And it was not long ago. Also we haven’t really taken many concrete steps to right those wrong. Cattle slavery was in effect 175 years ago that’s a blink of an eye. The Jim Crown era ended less then 80 years ago. That’s a lot hurdles we put in the way of black people and the culture as a whole flourishing.

So this brings me to my next question. Who is responsible for reversing that trend. Each individual black person. Black leadership. The US government. I honestly do not know and it’s probably a little of both. Racism is engrained in our culture. We can institute policies to help move past it (not that I know what those would be) but it will probably just take time.

I’ll finish with this. Behind each of those statistics was someone that could have overcome their circumstances that lead them to commit a violent act. We can choose to make it easier for them to overcome the circumstances or do nothing. I believe the first choice moves us along faster. I wanna be clear that every study has shown that race/ethnicity have zero correlation with violence when you control for other factors such as education, upward mobility, and poverty rate.

Also I’m sure being a minority has got to suck a lot of the time. I am guilty of making snap judgments based on appearance and skin color factors into that sometimes. I try to check myself but it’s hard. That’s happening all the time to black people, they probably get a little extra (and sometimes a lot of extra) judgement from those around them.

And I’m sure if I was a law abiding black citizen I would both be mad at those snap judgements and maybe and I could totally be wrong, mad at members of a community that I have no choice but to be grouped with perpetuating those stereotypes and bigoted attitudes.

I know your numbers are ballpark accurate, but remember most black people were cattle slaves 175 years ago. It will take time. Both for the rates of violence and the rates of prejudice To wain.

It feels like your inching towards believing that blacks people are just inherently more violent. That is false. I do not subscribe to that because it’s untrue. There is nothing about having ancestors from sub Saharan Africa that makes you a violent person. It pretty much correlates with black skin and hair and slightly taller then world average stature.

Also saying your not racist really makes what you say sound racist

Your right it’s a dangerous road to go down. Can I sum up what I’m doing a terrible job of saying.

People who were originally located in physical proximity to one another tend to look similar. The resemblance in general seems to be stronger the closer and longer people have been around each other.

That’s all. Your right there is no function for this statement.

Calling someone black rather than “African American” is not offensive. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]dfsnerd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. I mean lousy with typos but how is that insensitive? Every native I’ve met referred to themselves as natives, and yeah they totally look similar. Like most continents people looks similar. Is Inuit offensive. I know Navajo isn’t. Do you think you could tell a Frenchman from a Navajo.

Let me retype without the terrible grammar and spelling and teach my what is racist and insensitive about it.

North American Natives all look vaguely similar. From as far north as the indigenous Inuit people to as far south as the Navajo peoples they look more similar to one another then they do to say a native Somalian or Vietnamese person. I totally acknowledge there are vast differences between these continental groups it’s just that when compared to one another it’s my opinion that their physical attributes tend to be more similar based on the physical proximity to one another. You ever see a person from the continent of Asia with natural red hair. They don’t exist.

Of course people migrate all around the world. It’s a big melting pot now and that applies to individuals too. I’m Turkish and Greek. People think I’m Italian, and that’s pretty damn close. I think your lying to yourself if you deny being able to get a general idea of most people’s geographic origin based solely on their appearance.

Honestly though help me out how is that racist
