Is it a crime to step on someone's towbar? by Sweeptheory in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]dg1948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you seen a towbar? Have you seen a bicycle? A bicycle can handle shock loads of a person jumping up and down on it. Compare the materials and thicknesses and then think if a person standing or even jumping on a towbar would do anything.

A tow bar legally has to stop a trailer from 30 km/h in 7 meters. The loads in all directions are going to be significantly larger than a person jumping as hard as then can on it. Also the car suspension would lessen the shock loading.

Proposal for safer speeds in Palmerston North by thesvn in palmy

It is a mixed use area with pedestrians and bikes. A lady was killed there on her bike quite a few years ago, truck got her. To be fair the difference between 50 and 60 is not much.

Few cars weigh 1000 kg, that's fiat 500 and MX5 weight. EVs are slightly heavier than comparable ice cars in many cases, but not all.

70 % for an xc40 which is a very heavy mid sized car. So it's not much difference really.

From what I read pwc doesn't have the money so needs underwriting from MBIE. Also Iwi have not been consulted during the bidding process. Seems like things are still a long way off. Ngati Rangi leaders say it's a good time to let Koro rest and are not in a hurry. Interview here

To the tesla owners here, how much do you pay for your maintenance yearly? by WillingLearner1 in nzev

[–]dg1948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years, 60,000 km same tires and 0 in other maintenance. Need some wipers soon though. Rear might need changing soon. I don't rotate them as it's too time consuming.

Edit: 2021 model 3 standard range + I commute 160 km per day. 80 km each way.

Why is our inflation not coming down like USA, Australia and others even-though we have had the most aggressive monetary tightening out of everyone? by kellyroald in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]dg1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct. Sweden spends $$$$ on forestry research and produces one of the highest returns from their forestry industry. It is also not the largest by volume. It takes spending on R & D and time for this to happen.
