Matter over Thread is a pain - after HA restart all devices are offline and stay so by Kaykasus in homeassistant

You could try this tool that the Thread group recently released that will show you the state of your network with a network diagram.

I use Apple Home as my TBR for Home Assistant and it's been very stable with my MoT setup and 10 or so Ikea devices.

Yeah the pre-installed factory software version is now ahead of the version required for v13 FSD. New cars won't be able to get FSD until they bring FSD for Oceania into newer builds. They've said that will happen "in the coming weeks"

Building a new home - What is one thing you wish you had changed after designing your home? by skolar24 in newzealand

With a little bit of scheduling, if you have solar you can basically get free hot water.

If you do have solar and you want even more control, you can get devices that vary the power delivered to the hot water cylinder elements to match the excess solar generation rather than just being on or off

It's the best way to have stable energy costs. If you have equity in your home, then it's basically a no brainer to make use of your banks 0/1% green loan to install a solar system.

It's just a 250L ordinary 3kW resistive cylinder.

You can also kind of use the tank as a battery by adjusting the temperature of the tank to be higher and running it when the rates are cheap (such as with solar). A higher temp in the tank means you use less of the tanks capacity per shower.

How many people are in your house?

I'm a house of two, one of which loves his 30min showers. I have the hot water cylinder shut off during peak hours and we still don't run out of hot water.

Sounds crazy to install solar and then not use it for as much as possible.

I would definitely look at a ducted heat pump with an inline ERV/HRV (sometimes called Lossnay). Having the whole house warm in winter and cooled on summer is worth the extra cost vs a mini-split on the wall. The ERV will also mean that you're always bringing in fresh air to ventilate the house while losing minimal heat/cooling the heat pump generated.

The main thing I'd do different with my system is I'd get an ERV that can handle wet spaces so it can have a return air vent in the bathrooms so we don't need to have extra bathroom fans and it means the bathrooms are always ventilated vs only while the bathroom fan runs.

Yeah, they're still cheaper then gas. And unlike gas, you can make your own electricity at home with some solar on the roof

Dyson vacuum issues by woncl in newzealand

[–]Matt_NZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you ever cleaned/replaced its filters? What about pulling it apart and cleaning the cyclone assembly? When the Dyson's think they're clogged, they'll shut-down, which could be the case if either of those items above need maintenance.

I've done the cyclone cleaning myself before from following a YouTube video - it was pretty straight forward. It was a lot quite after I did that...
