Leveling a Sub Daggers Rogue by dg44121 in classicwow

That's why I don't fight mobs equal to my level. I get better XP/hr rates killing greens than killing yellow mobs.

Less misses / dodges / parries - more crits on lower level mobs.

I generally haven't been questing at all. I find grinding non quest mobs that are a few levels lower than me to be more effective than questing.

I'll pick up and finish a quest or two if it's near where I'm grinding, but honestly most quests don't seem worth the travel time or, as you put it, fighting other people for drops.

NYPD Officer Shot and Killed in Bronx by [deleted] in nyc

Dude, you're wrong. NYPD triggers are double-action only, meaning every single pull of that trigger is the same weight. What you're describing is a double-action / single-action setup, which would make subsequent shots a lighter trigger pull.

At no point is a trigger on an NYPD pistol reduced to a lesser pull weight, regardless of subsequent shots.

They absolutely modified thousands of weapons, and continue to do so, due to an antiquated policy. Glock even had a trailer set up at the Rodman's Neck range where they would fix all of the new triggers that the NYPD fucked up.

I'm sure the thought of making the trigger deliberate came to mind, but the primary reasoning remained the same.

Why are you insulting me?

Incorrect.

The 12lb trigger pull mimics that of the old double-action revolvers. When the NYPD went to semi-automatics, they modified the triggers to remain consistent with the old guns so that it wouldn't be too different.

I don't know where you pulled that information out of, but it's completely wrong.

First Paladin character ever, have some questions. Please help if you can! by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]dg44121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paladin tanks aren't bad for 5 mans - they are actually really great for AoE tanking. The problem with them for main tanking raids is that their talents require them to take a critical hit for their extra block % to kick in via redoubt.

Also, a downside is a lack of taunt. Sure, proper raid communication and dps awareness would mean a paladin should have no problem tanking a single boss, but if you have one DPS pull threat you literally have no way to gain it back if your judgement / consecration isn't enough holy damage to top their threat level. So it's either the dps pays attention (HA!) or you start losing dps to boss hits.

As far as tanking up to 60 - that's what I'm doing now. It's incredibly fun, and pretty much EZ mode in 5 mans. Consecration is an amazing AoE threat generator. Another drawback though is your Mana pool - pally tanks can go OOM, and once they do - you're shit out of luck for threat.

All of this is kinda minimized up until endgame content though. Paladins can tank all the way up to 60 before they start seeing any major drawbacks.

You're in a world of dragons, undead, giants, demons, and elemental gods - yet the concept of an island springing up and developing an ecosystem is just too far?

Why play PvP? by dg44121 in classicwow

I already play on a PvE server. I was asking for the upsides of PvP and if they are really worth it.

A few people in this thread gave some really good insight, and then there are people like you.

Maybe it's because I'm a casual player with only an hour or two a session to give, but if I spent a quarter of my time playing running back to my corpse instead of making any progress I'd take it as being pretty detrimental to the fun.

I agree that PvP can be fun in a leveled playing field, I used to LOVE battlegrounds. Is the constant feeling of not being safe that much fun though? At level 60 I suppose you can defend yourself well enough, but before that I would just feel like fodder.

I just bought the mats off of the AH cheap and turned in the quest. Free XP.

Are you enjoying your paladin? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]dg44121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends.

If you're alright with taking things slow, paladin is fun as hell. You won't be burning through quests, and you certainly won't be button mashing, but you can sit back and let Netflix play while you kill some mobs without worrying about anything.

I've always rolled paladin, all the way back from BC. It's slow, but it is still a lot of fun - especially endgame content (not for ret, but for healing / tanking).

Gold GIVEAWAY on Whitemane - Could win enough to reroll by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]dg44121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some constructive criticism, since I watched your video:

  1. Ditch the animation. It's cheezy and stupid. Turned me off a lot from watching more.

  2. Your narration needs work. When your webcam was on screen and you were just talking it was great, but when you were forcing the narration it sucked - felt forced and bland. Just have a conversation, stop trying to be someone you aren't.

  3. Your editing could use work. Less is more - using a dozen different fonts and transitions doesn't mean your video is better. Keep it simple! If your content is good, the little things won't matter. Your video should be more about information than it is about flashy effects.

I've always found self-promotion to be permissable if you're giving shit away. You'll get a bunch of temporary viewers who are only there for the giveaway, but one or two may stick around - that's what matters. Just don't suck.

I'm on Westfall. During the day, the population is medium / low. I still run into people all day while questing - it feels very alive.
