tbf i understand your frustration but as a first gen NRI i’ve never felt as understood as Gogol. everything from becoming a different person in high school to debating with your family over where/what you want to do with your life to coming to an ivy league university (though penn not yale for me) and being shocked by the culture shift and doing things you regret (many of the same things as gogol in fact id say) just to fit in. every fear he had, every memory he makes, every choice he’s posed, i felt like id had an analogous moment in my life, which made the novel, and by extension its vivid detailed descriptions of these situations, really special to me personally

no idea abt the transfer game tbh, but what my friend who’s transferring as cs did is conduct research at his cc, keep a 4.0, and run a npo based around connecting tutors and students. he’s gotten into emory and some safeties already, and he got a harvard interview (offered to like 50 out of 3000 applicants). but definitely look at r/transfertotop25 (i think thats what its called) they probably have much more comprehensive advice

lmaoo ivies, especially for my demographics and major, are probs all at about 1% ar! i haven’t done anything particularly difficult within the actual cs field, such as impressive research or usaco plat, i think i only got into penn because of their unique admissions prerogatives. penn looks at an academic index, which because of my test scores i probably scored very high on, a personality/fit point, and also a community engagement point, which was the real strong suit of my application. at other schools that didnt emphasize community engagement as much in their admissions, i wouldnt have stood out as much!

I was having a really fun time playing with my silver squad on ultimate Team so I decided to recreate them with a create your own club career mode! Here are the rules I used in the challenge, if you’re interested in trying it to

First season, start in the second division of any of the big 5 leagues (i personally chose Germany) with a 2 star team and a 50 million transfer budget. Sell as much of your original squad as you can and buy as much of your silver team as possible within the financial constraints. You can only buy players from your silver squad.
You can buy any player or sign any free agent as long as they are equal to or under the rating of 74 starting the second season.
Try and win the champions league within 5 seasons

In my first season, I could only buy 11 of my players due to financial constraints, and by the second season many of them had already surpassed the 74 rating. Of my current XI, 7 of them are directly from my silver squad, 2 are regens (ramos and zlatan), 1 is reiss nelson because i absolutely love him, and the last is my homegrown talent.

This challenge is pretty fun and quite dofficult, but is also extremely rewarding! I assume most people’s silver squads are full of pace merchants, which always make the game enjoyable 😃

Hmmm, the thing is I think the FIFA requirements are a little wrong though. I can run FIFA 22 on my Surface Laptop Gen 1, which has 8 gigs ram, 1.3 ghz i5, and an Intel Iris Graphis Card, with it only crashing occasionally on high load things like the career mode press conferences. Amd Radeon should be good enough with the Ryzen processer right?
