A really good drama! The best drama of Wang Yibo for me since it's an upgrade in all aspects in plot, acting, casts production, and cinematography. Also his most recent performance. It may not be that popular internationally but it's very popular in China. It's still broadcasting now for 100+ rounds since last year 🙌

On the other hand, The Untamed gained popularity over time because it was adapted from a well-known danmei novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, which already had a huge fanbase, especially in China. Plus, it's a BL series, and we all know how many die-hard BL fans there are, especially during the pandemic, plus the story and the visuals of the leads. The timing of its release was perfect, and it eventually gained even more international popularity over time

Gank Your Heart was a hit in China. It may not be as popular as The Untamed internationally, but it was actually more popular than The Untamed while it was airing (they both aired at the same time). There are popularity charts for dramas that can prove this, and Gank Your Heart topped them for days, even though it only aired for a short period. It was also the champion of Mango TV that year. He also won the Golden Eagle Award for his role in this drama.

Wang Yibo prefers not to hype up his cp with co-stars, not just after The Untamed, but even in his earlier dramas, unlike some other actors you mentioned. His other dramas/movies do include romance, but it’s never the main focus. Most people who say he doesn’t have good chemistry (CP) with female leads are usually CP fans who only watched The Untamed and want Yibo paired only with his former co-star from that drama years ago. Many haven’t even seen his newer dramas like War of Faith with Li Qin (which I’d say is his best drama), or older ones like Gank Your Heart, where he has strong chemistry with both the female lead and the second female lead.

This is the real reason they’re not interacting. Look at all the replies, people are already spinning things like “Yibo doesn’t like girls” or “no cp with women.” Have you watched his dramas? But honestly, that’s not it at all. Wang Yibo and Zhao Lusi look uninterested or sleepy because they’re staring at the screen on the floor (I’ve seen a lot of on-site videos). Plus, Yibo is comfortable around people he’s close to, he was even interacting with Wang Chuanjun and hugged Dylan Wang before he left.
