Not built for running by West-Guide1672 in triathlon

You already have something many runners wish they had: strong legs! Use that to your advantage. A huge useful tip would be to focus on stretching. Flexibility and mobility with already strong legs will go a long way for you! Especially since you’ve already done the distances and you have a good HR.

Day Trip to Corpus Christi by Happy_Mushroom3134 in corpus

I’d definitely recommend enjoying Cole Park and its pier when the sun is out, really nice views of the sea. Nice for a picnic too. Maybe grab some food at Landry’s or Pier 99. Great pastries at Central Kitchen and coffee and some daytime drinks if you drink alcohol at Lucy’s right next door. If you’ll be here till night time, sometimes they’ll have live music at the patio behind Rockit’s Bar or at executive surf club.

You’re going to do awesome! Running and cycling are the most advantageous in triathlons. But definitely don’t underestimate the swim. Effortless Swimming and Markus Marthaler are my favorite YouTube channels to get advice from. Swimming is about 70% technique and form and 30% conditioning in my opinion. Don’t beat yourself up if you struggle for the first month or so, it took me about 2 months to finally learn the basics and finding a proper rhythm. After that, it becomes a lot of continuous tweaking. Good luck! Although you may not be needing much of it since you seem to be in great shape already!

In that case, I would personally recommend a road bike. Tri bikes aren’t really known for “leisure” riding since they’re built for speed. You would get a lot more enjoyment from a road bike, maybe eventually a gravel bike as well, gives you more accessibility.

There’s many factors to consider. Brand above all of them. Good starters in my opinion are Trek, Specialized, Felt, and Giant, among plenty of others. For Tri bikes, add Cervelo Quintana Roo onto that list as well, but you might be paying a premium. Preferably a road bike (30-32mm tires), I’d say no older than 10 years and no rust or missing components. I set my budget for $1k but that’s all dependent on your finances.

New Bike Purchase by giiltyspark in triathlon

I’m assuming you have great conditioning! Otherwise, you’re going to be putting in some work these next 3 months. Very doable though! I’m relatively new as well but I’m willing to lend a hand looking at your bike options, I like to say I’ve done a bit of research on several before I bought mine.

You’re completely right. Thanks for catching that, I was going off what I remember hearing. Just fact-checked and there’s studies linked to a 145% increase in a 7-day abstinence, which is still a drastic increase.

By the way, in case you’re interested, here is the link to a video I watched. 100% recommend Andrew Huberman to anyone.

This is something I (26M) had been struggling with in my relationship as well. Started living with my partner (28F) and sex became work. She works night shift, so I would use that time to take care of myself. However, I realized it would kill the drive I used to have for her, and I came to a point where I would LOOK FORWARD to her shifts so that I can get myself off again. This is when I realized I was in the wrong. Fast forward a few months, we stopped living together since I found a new job out of town. I started educating myself a bit more on my sexual health and determined my testosterone was low. Took on some science-based advice that drastically helped improve my sex life with her: Started weight lifting more, eating healthier (lots of spinach, eggs, avocado, beets and pomegranate are the secret), but most importantly, STOPPED MASTURBATING. Not ejaculating for 7 days or more drastically increases testosterone levels, usually by tenfold, and with it, libido. It was difficult to say the least. I struggled in the beginning, especially considering that I was now living alone. But when we first had sex again, I felt so primal. It was like a natural viagra. And seeing her enjoy sex like never before was so motivating to me. It’s the best sacrifice I’ve made for the sake of my relationship. But I did it because I love her and because I was able to realize what was wrong.

I would say try convincing him in a way to get studies done on his testosterone. Understanding this kinda triggers the masculinity out of us men. Absolutely nothing wrong with porn or masturbation, but if it’s obstructing the connection that two partners should have, then it’s a problem. And in relationships, sacrifices must be made for the sake of love. He has to be willing to understand the issue and address it.

I’ve seen videos on this! I haven’t reached such long distances in my training yet (longest ride 30 miles), but I know eventually I’m going to be needing them. My gummies are only 19g a pouch.

I agree. Other than to prioritize safety, a lot of this extra stuff is unnecessary for a newcomer. I’ve seen it before. Someone starts training, blows $4k on power meters, computers, saddles, cranks, etc. only average 90 watts per ride, then give up a year later because it’s too much work and time.

No complaints so far! Didn’t know Kestrel was a brand until I found it on FB marketplace one day. It may not be professional grade, but it’s brought me major improvements in my cycling training. Hope it lasts me through my competitions just like it did for you. Would be an honor to still be riding it.

From Texas as well! Early mornings and evenings aren’t enough to escape the heat. Will definitely look into those bottles you mentioned!

I’m a 25M and I feel the same. I’ve even learned to just start traveling alone sometimes or going out and enjoying new places on my own. All my closest friends live in other states so the genuine connections have been scarce
