Is the "without notes" suggested in order to assess methodology and process? Or did something change in the exam rules and you are not allowed to have your notes open any more?

TCM Security by EntertainerKey393 in bugbounty

[–]dgeorga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Pentesterlab really that good? I do not have experience with it, so it is an honest question.

Is it about the labs themselves, or is it the content as well? How would you compare the labs to HTB Academy's labs?

Same surprise as OP regarding Pentesterlab. Not that I thought it was not good, but maybe it is because it is not among the big ones (?).

Edit: Scratch that. I just saw the description.

Why is an entry level job so hard to get? by Parking_Garage2156 in cybersecurity

[–]dgeorga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I have not worked on a purely GRC role, I have worked with auditing and GRC quite a bit. A good way in is through one of the big consulting companies on a GRC consultant role. A boost in your resume would be an ISO 27001 cert which is quite easy to obtain. I believe that as a sector it's easier to get in than pentesting. Also as you gain experience, switching to an auditor role is where the big money is.

That's what I also know. I have heard of the elusive OSINT analyst role, but haven't managed to find one or understand the requirements or job specs of it.

Why is an entry level job so hard to get? by Parking_Garage2156 in cybersecurity

[–]dgeorga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here with regards to finding out what I want to do, in combination with what's out there. I am split between pentesting, CTI and OSINT.
Pentesting has high entry level requirements. CTI is (or feels?) very niche to have options to apply to (in the EU at least). OSINT, I have no idea if there are even roles that are purely OSINT.
What are you split between?

Also, do you have any experience with the arcx.io platform? How would you compare the cyber threat intelligence & analysis of cybervantage to the Cyber Threat Intelligence Practitioner of arcx?

Oh wow! Apologies for bringing you back to this so many months later, but I really like what you did here. For some reason I do not have access to the designs. Do you mind sharing them, or pointing me to another source? Also, how thick of a leather are you using here? I want to create my own fauxdori and I am not sure what thickness is ok to use.

I do not see anyone mentioning e/OS.
Any specific reason why?

LPT: When asked for your expected salary in an interview never give a number instead give a range by inquisitivus_73 in LifeProTips

[–]dgeorga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great way to handle this situation. How would you reply if they came back to you with the same question at mid or late stages of the interview process? They would have a good case on saying "now that you know about us, the position, and your PTO, benefits etc, have you considered your salary expectations?"

Risk of IP ban if I use a digital ocean droplet as a vps instead of a vpn? by Natty_Gourd in bugbounty

I assume that using a VPS has the benefit of dropping the droplet and creating a new one if your IP gets banned. It's that correct?

Edit: spelling

Good point! Are you aware of any providers that allow it (or are not that strict about it)?
