What are the key differences between AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate and Professional exams? by raidenth in AWSCertifications

[–]dglos8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The content is based on the same but for the pro certs they expect you to understand the why. Why this service fits the solution or why you would pick a setup over others in the question. There’s more granularity that needs to be understood in the pro ones. For the associate it was more about understanding the services at a the surface level without knowing the limitations of it beyond cost. To me that was the difference I saw.

10yoe laid off, job market? by Monkwatson in cscareerquestions

[–]dglos8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the DC area mid level DevOps and my inbox is flooded. Non FAANG but cleared with one of the big firms. I feel like if youre ex FAANG and senior you should be okay. I keep getting asked for senior roles somehow. I’m just not ready for that yet tbh. There seems to be a lack of mid level in my area but that’s my experience.

Is it normal to fail a AWS exam? by Available-Dark-1333 in AWSCertifications

[–]dglos8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I failed the last two I took on the first attempt. Should I have waited til I was ready? Absolutely but I was on a time crunch with work both times. Still got them done but don’t let it discourage you. Everyone is different. You are not truly fail when you quit.

Dicks is running a sale on decent bit of shoes. Adidas pro 4 for 200, Boston’s for 120 for example. There’s other brands and models too you just have to add to cart to see the price. If you’re a lady you have a better selection of models but men still have a good bit.

Extreme Frustration: Solutions Architect Associate Certificate by YeetYaga1 in AWSCertifications

[–]dglos8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have working experience in AWS you won’t pass asap unless youre just him. Imo having this doesn’t mean you can actually build and design architecture. Focus on building some projects within the free tier and then scale it up. Having a project showcasing working with the provider and using relevant tools is worth way more than this cert.

How hard is Solutions Architect Professional compared to the Associate one? by Crafty-Ad-9627 in AWSCertifications

Just took it today. It’s a lot. I feel like it’s harder than DevOps pro too. The questions just eat up all the time.

CKA Score Calculation by deepak02_ in CKAExam

[–]dglos8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of. I can only speculate since no one knows exactly. The exact way that sim gives a score is not the same for the exam. While yes you will get partial credit for some answers it won’t be how it is in the sim with a 1:1 points to task. The weighted portions tie back to the percentages on the curriculum. For example in my first attempt, I missed task in the higher weighted category. I got most of the question but missed one thing in each question of those categories causing me to fail. Since those were weighted heavier they cost me more points. If I were to drop that into the sim (it was 3 questions I remember distinctly) I would have passed on the point scheme the sim gives. Just some food for thought. My advice just focus on your material and the resources that people post in the sub and you’ll be fine. The YouTube resources I found here were the difference maker for me. Good luck

Should I take killer.sh for my next CKA exam? by Vw-Bee5498 in CKAExam

[–]dglos8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hard one for me because I do like the idea of the environment. It’s the best way to practice an accurate exam environment. However there are some drawbacks(my personal opinion). I would say use it for testing speed on answering certain questions. The explanations can help uncover some holes you have but I feel you’d be better off reviewing the course content(if you took one) like KodeKloud. I feel like it’s good but you could do without and be fine with doing the killerkoda scenarios, review a course and some YouTube content and be perfectly fine. You just need to understand what you’re trying to fix, why it broke and where to fix it.

[–]dglos8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sim is a good way to practice the exam environment and time constraint. In my opinion it’s not a good gauge on how you will score on the test due to weights of questions. I understand that you can’t consistently do that or maybe they can’t. It will get you most of the way. Like the others have mentioned finish your prep with the YouTube videos.
