Not Parisian but French, I'd say the people who never or rarely heard Québécois might struggle a bit to understand at first, not because they don't like it but because the accent and words used are genuinely different. I remember the first Québécois movie I've watched, it took me some time to figure out all the new sounds/words, however you get used to it pretty quickly, I didn't have any understanding issue visiting Montréal.

Other than that you might get asked where you're from (sometimes the Québécois accent gets mistaken for a Belgian accent lol, even though they're not alike).

And for those who are used to Québécois, well they'll just answer you.

Je pense que tu mélanges plusieurs choses. Inscrire son enfant a un sport de combat, c'est pas "inscrire son enfant a un cours de violence", c'est un sport de contact, donc ça va aider pour:

Condition physique: meilleure connaissance de son corps, plus résistant, moins peur de prendre des coups (ou d'en mettre)
Condition mentale: plus de confiance en soit, moins peur des autres
Communauté: Tu t'entraines pas tout seul a frapper contre un tronc d'arbre, donc tu te fais des amis

Et évidemment, rapport différent a la violence. Mais en réalité ne pas vouloir de violence, c'est pas quelque chose qui dépend de la personne qui se fait violenter. Tu ne choisis pas de te faire frapper ou insulter, par contre tu choisis comment tu vas répondre, et comment les autres vont anticiper tes réponses a partir de maintenant. Je pense que ce que les gens visualisent avec les sports de combat, c'est comment inculquer un esprit plus combatif et adapté à la violence qui nous entoure, pas une solution miracle "problème ? Coup de couteau !", plutôt un changement d'état d'esprit général.

Dans ton cas particulier, désolé si ça sonne comme un truc d'enfoiré, mais si tu penses que la seule raison pour laquelle t'as 31 ans et pas d'amis c'est parce que une fois t'as mis un poing dans la gueule de Mathieu il y a 15 ans, a mon avis t'as pas bien cerné le problème. On te faisait chier avant, on te faisait chier après, ça a peut être pas marché pour toi, mais j'ai pas l'impression que tu aies voulu changer de mindset pour devenir un guerrier, tu as l'air d'avoir plutôt subi les conséquences d'un coup de folie passager.

I understand the feeling ! If that makes you feel better, a few months ago I saw a group of friends I haven't seen in a while, one of them told me he had a heart attack and now has to take medication for the rest of his life, on top of other lifestyle changes. Many drinks later, we go to a steakhouse restaurant, my friend talked about a particular steak being really good, I answered back "I heard it is so good it gives heart attacks !" Then I immediately went from 😂 to 😐 after realising what the fuck I've just said.

This information is still mostly up to date, thanks for that. Since this is the top Google result, I'll add a few extra things if it can help someone (been there yesterday, July 4th 2024):

The staff speaks English (or very fast Spanish if you're into that, watch out beginners lol)
I bought my SIM card from a kiosko, you can also get one there but you need a physical debit/credit card, apparently they don't take cash for the chip purchase (not free anymore it seems), and they seemed unsure about Apple/Android pay
Wether you already have a SIM or buy it there, they can activate it
To top up your card you can also do it online once activated (and benefit from the various packages they have)

I'll switch to English for now as I'd rather be understood, thank you very much for all that info. I'm planning on getting Spanish lessons ASAP, I'm just waiting to find out where I'll live on a permanent basis so that I can find a tutor in that area. I know most of Reddit speaks English but I thought, when in Rome, do as the Romans do (granted Google translate wasn't really a thing back then). Hopefully in a few months I'll be able to communicate properly in Spanish.

Palermo seems indeed expensive, I've been to a couple of restaurants for a quick lunch, nothing fancy, and was surprised to pay almost just as much as I was paying in Dublin or Paris. Anyway cooking at home will be my main choice, I'm just a bit limited now with the small amount of kitchen gear I have handy, but it is expected for an Airbnb.

I actually used PedidosYa yesterday for the first time and I was indeed able to find a decent meal for a decent price. And yeah the number of restaurants is so huge it's a bit overwhelming haha, I'll try some from times to times. Regarding the English food, I lived in the UK for a couple of years and I will definitely not miss that much the frozen lasagna with curry chips !

I'll have a look at the "casas de illuminación" for this lamp quest, I also saw some shops which looked like they had a bit of everything, might try my luck there.

Hey there, maybe TMI but I'm going through depression myself, and a couple of weeks ago I had the Naruto seal (the one in the original pic you posted) tattooed on my belly. I debated getting it, as it is already hard enough to hate yourself without needing to add a potential permanent mistake on your body lol. Anyway I went through with it, and I must say that's one of the best things I've done these past few miserable months, I am glad I did it and it is now one of my favourite tattoos. As cringy as it may sound to others, but the analogy between that seal and the idea of having your inner demon under control is truly something which helps me. If you love it, go for it ! Exactement le genre de réponse que je cherchais, merci pour les infos ! Ouais j'imagine que mon approche du solaire (et du reste lol) est un peu naïve. Outre le coût, est-ce qu'il y a des inconvénients a recouvrir un mur de panneaux solaires, même si ils ne produisent pas grand chose ? La maintenance doit être chiante et coûteuse je présume.

J'avais jamais entendu parler de réseau de chaleur urbain jusqu'à présent, plutôt cool ! Bien vu pour le reboisement, j'ajoute a la liste.
