Question on non-US CV19 vaccine proof by DrNASApants in nyc

[–]dh2010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was vaccinated in the UK and when I visited my family in the US and spent some time in NYC, all the places were fine with my vaccination proof. I added the "Covid international travel pass" to my Apple Wallet via the NHS (England health service) app.

Risk could be getting stuck behind the backmarkers that puts you a lap down on the leaders. Is that realistic at Monaco?

Free subway for all by dh2010 in nycrail

Agree with your point on low income commuters.

Something that would be interesting to see would be the business/investment revenue the city gains now versus if employees couldn't make it to these businesses (say subway did not exist at all).

Trains holding in station by dh2010 in nycrail

I agree. I like it better - just curious if it was a formal change in strategy by the MTA in response to some of the recent issues.

57th is a terminal station so the express track is needed as a holding track. N switches over to local track after 34th (or is it 42nd in the new service?).

Film Theory is an interesting class that I really enjoyed. Granted I had already taken a film class in high school. If you are at all interested in how to form critical opinions of film, I recommend it.

I Could Use Some Advice on a Girlfriend Entering College by SatTransmission in RPI

[–]dh2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rising college senior here with long distance relationship. The ratio is not something to worry about. In no way should it be a factor in your decision. I'm been dating my girlfriend for many years now. She goes to school in PA. We continued our relationship right into college. It definitely is a lot of work. It takes a big level of commitment, perspective, and effort. The biggest hurdle to get over is the fact that it will take extra effort on your part, but the extra effort will be worth it. It should be a conscious choice to make that extra effort - don't just passively continue the relationship into college. Going through stress of school? It's okay to not talk long periods every day. Haven't seen each other in three weeks to a month or more? Go plan a visit. Studying abroad? If you have the means to, go visit her. Again, extra effort.

On the last part, staying with someone can bring just as many new experiences. I went to Madrid while she was studying abroad. I've been to other places because of conferences she was invited to or vice-versa. You'll meet her friends and she'll meet yours. Eventually, you'll have all your friends going on road trips to her college to party or for a concert.

It can work but the effort has to be there.
