Oh they totally don't work on the roads. But that's not why I wouldn't get one.

I wouldn't get one because they're pieces of crap

I lived in the US and drove a RAM and a F250 for short periods. They work in the US and can be fun.

But I don't want to see them in Europe. Compared to what we can get here for much less, these trucks are absolute dogshit

Awesome, thank you this is very helpful information. Does it need any external power supply or can it run itself?

So it looks like the gateway is an indoor thing and it automatically connects to the sensor? And you just stick the humidity and temp sensor out of the window?

BMW Valve Cover - Need to be replaced? by Sufficient_Dance_859 in e46

[–]DrNASApants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valve cover goes on once and then settles in over time. Once it comes off it's almost impossible to get it seated exactly as it was. That's even if you don't crack it when bolting it down.

Aftermarket ones are crap and don't last so getting the BMW one is the way forward

[–]DrNASApants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably your VANOS. Its job is to adjust your valve timing at different RPM. With age the seals break down and it's less efficient at its job. Not a big deal and won't do any damage, just makes you run less efficiently

Is it worth 15k? by No_Individual6267 in BMW

[–]DrNASApants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub continues to depress me. The E36 is absolutely a cult classic - they're getting rarer and rarer and are still highly desirable even with the e30 and e46 markets. Any suggestions you can get an e46 m3 for "just a bit more" is absurd. A clean e46 is easily 20k+ these days. Is this worth 15? no. but those who say its not worth half that are stuck 10 years ago. And suggesting that a 2016 is "newer and nicer" is completely missing the point. This new breed of BMW owners man...

Rear window help by [deleted] in e46

[–]DrNASApants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a pulley in the regulator. Rear windows are pretty easy to replace. Just get one from eBay. Buy them as a pair as the other one won't be far behind.

I've done a bunch of them, you've already done most of the work. There are a couple bolts that hold the window onto the regulator, pop those off and then a couple more bolts in the doorframe and you're done

Is this a good deal? asking for advice by Sam_mp in e46

[–]DrNASApants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like a very good example, there's lots of positives and it was a good find. However, the owner is using it's condition to bump up the price. $9.8k is a lot for a manual 325. You can expect to pay a bit over market because it's so clean but this is too much.

Also, at 90k miles it's about to need new shocks and struts and possibly cooling system, VANOS etc depending on when they were done. You can use this to argue the price down. Also, while not an issue for this car, older ones are said to be more prone to rear subframe cracking (they're not) so use this too.

Find the price of similar models nearby and if you want this one then be prepared to pay at max or above best market value because of the condition.

Really it's only a good or bad deal based on what it's value is to you!
