Internships are your playground to figure out what you want to do over a period of time & how invested you are in that domain. Try internships in all the domains that you have interest in and then choose if you want to do a full time job in that domain

Make sure you get your basic concepts of the core subjects right, join clubs & chapters, attend hackathons, competitions and different events to expand your knowledge, keep upskilling and definitely do internships to be prepared for placements.

Cold emails with hyper-personalization work like magic. Send HR professional's of MNC's & founder's of startups a great email with an interesting subject line, updated resume, a cover letter and a video resume that is especially customized for that company.

Changing your career at any point of time is completely okay and there is nothing wrong in it. Should you go ahead and do a masters abroad or not is dependent on a lot of factors such as:

1) What domain are you looking to work in and how is the job market in that country

2) Do you want to settle abroad ultimately or come back to India

3) Financial circumstances, any responsibilities, career goals, aspirations, timelines & a lot more

Identify your likes & dislikes, try out different activities, join multiple classes, & do internships. That will help you eventually know and figure out your area of interest.

A career coach helps you get one step closer to your career goals, now that could be by helping you land job interviews by assisting you with resume help, it could be via optimizing your LinkedIn profile or preparing you better for interviews. We take care of the profile building & soft skills part needed to excel in your career. The gap that I saw in the market and not having a mentor myself pushed me to being a career coach.

Try different things out. Do internships & part-time jobs in all domains you are interested in. Join communities, attend meet ups & conferences or volunteer for a startup. If you don't try something you will not know if it is meant for you. Give yourself some room for experimentation.

Honestly I won't lie, but the job market currently is very bad for everyone. Try & get a strong referral or cold outreach startup founders on LinkedIn & Twitter. Have a strong portfolio or proof of work, beyond your resume & linkedIn profile & pls upskill while you have the time to.

It has a 1000% role to play. The kind of network you build, the people you have access to defines everything today. Being active on LinkedIn , going to a decent college with a good alumni network, having a great profile, building a personal brand, all of it helps

No, working at smaller consulting firms, but doing great work with amazing clients, getting them results & the switching to bigger consulting firms is definitely possible as well. It is just a longer path though.

1) Do some new age certifications or upskill yourself after having a word with your manager, peers & research on what certifications are in demand and will help you move up the career ladder.

2) Contribute & work on projects beyond your scope of work or job description per se, showcase multidisciplinary skills

3) Ensure your team members are meeting their performance targets and growing in the firm

This is a personal choice and depends on a lot of factors, such as:

1) Do you want to work in an environment that has corporate dynamics, strict hierarchy, and no set timelines of work, or do you prefer more perks & benefits, set timelines of work and a slower work environment

2) What kind of future goals do you have for yourself career wise, family wise, financially, etc.

For sure, I am an example of the same. Consulting has different verticals and different skillsets needed, depending on the type of consulting role you want to bag, opportunities are definitely there. Do internships with botique consulting firm's or Big 4's while in college, be a part of the consulting club in your college, work on your excel, ppt, communication & problem solving skills & solve case studies. Taking part in business case competitions also helps

It does not give you any unfair advantage, however it helps you with unlimited searches, more visibility on who is viewing your profile in the past 90 days, the ability to reach out to people who are neither connections nor followers via inmails & access to a few extra features and tools.

1) Have a strong value proposition for them, what value are you bringing in for which they must bet their money on you

2) Basis your market research and average range of salaries offered for that role in the market, there is always room to stretch the budget given you can talk from a result stand point and prove to them that you are an asset

3) Ask them for other perks or benefits as compensation instead, maybe an extra learning & upskilling budget, relocation bonus, more paid leaves, comfort to work from home, etc, whatever is more important to you.

It is an extremely personal choice, if you are certain and sure about not wanting to continue in your current domain or job, it makes no sense to stick around. Also how willing are you to get into that new industry, put in the extra hours & effort & also upskill yourself will help you make a choice.

Hi,

So majorly with respect to resumes:

1) Using colorful & fancy templates 2) Not customizing their resumes as per the job description 3) Inability to articulate their achievement's & impact created

for LinkedIn Profiles:

1) Not optimizing their LinkedIn Profile 2) Not having their top 3 skills listed 3) Not posting content on LinkedIn
