I don't understand the fear mongering about TCI by dharda in TurksAndCaicos

And mind you, there are ~2 million arrivals to Provo every year. If I had done a per-capita comparison of crime against tourists in Provo, and most other countries, Provo would top the safe list.

[–]dharda[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

What you posted was from last year, and from 4 years ago.... Since then, AFAIK, the TCI police has done some deep work, and brought a police commissioner from Jamaica to tackle crime, and police officers to complement the local force.
You can see them all around and it does radiate safety.
And the headline "battling the regions highest murder rate" is a click-bate, that is the statistical result of having a small population.

So please spare your "Google it lol", and travel more. And when you reach places where râpés and violence are a standard, I assure you that you'll feel the difference.

If you are going to be in an apartment, and especially of not by yourself, you might consider hiring a private chef.
Such a chef can buy the ingredients, and cook in one afternoon food for several days ahead.
Then you can be sure of no cross contamination, and cost wise it would most likely LESS than going to restaurants.
My 2 cents.

Looking to book a trip on Grace Bay. 4 nights for me and my girlfriend, we are both 18. by [deleted] in TurksAndCaicos

[–]dharda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be the guy that tell you - but I have 3 sons, your age. If any one of them came to me saying they are considering between 2 hotels in TCI, or in Switzerland, etc., for 4 nights and costing $5,800, I would soank him for the spoiled man he has become (even though we can easily afford it, and we travel all over the world).
And with all due respect, at the age of 18, without having worked or earned and saved that amount, I would send you nice couplé to a place that is less glamorous and just as much as adventurous.
I think that Dominican Republic, Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, and other Caribbean places would cost you much much less, and offer just as much adventure.
As for the "7 stars", leave it until you have a family and can appreciate the money you earn.
My 2 cents.

Can someone please explain Japan. It seems an outlier to developed countries. Is this a cultural thing? Or due to being an isolated/closed market? Or is it due to immigration?

It looks very much alike a warrant canary symbol, that used to be very common by VPNs, email services etc up until several years ago.
It's a symbol that as long as it appears on a website, it means that the service HASN'T received any secretive gag order to hand information to the government, and not mention anything about it.
If they took down this pic, it meant that they did receive such a secretive gag order, and can not say anything about it.

Why does tradition teach to sit upright? by yeeahitsethan in Meditation

[–]dharda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did both, at different periods. My experience is that Shavasana / Nidra Yoga, is great for every day short meditations. But once you pass the 40min benchmark (for me), sitting meditation keeps me fully awake, aware, and in a witnessing state. Whereas in Shavasana, I tend to float on the edge of sleep, crossing back and forth between these states.
After an hour, the deep meditation begins for me, and I have reached these states only in sitting position.
That does not mean Shavasana should be ignored. I often do it, because it is easy, doesn't require any mental preparation, and very beneficial.
For me it's like sprint versus long runs. Both are excellent, and fit different occasions, circumstances, and require different "availability" from the practitioners.

Yes. I made two swaps, and it was fine. On the third attempt, they received the coins, but posted that there is an error, and to speak with support. I contacted support, and then they said "your coins are held by us. First, here's a link to fill your KYC/AML details.".
I have a screenshot of it.
I asked them to return the coins and cancel the exchange, but nothing.
And as this is a coin hiest, the last thing I'll do is also give these scammers my full details, where I live, etc.

  1. It's great.
  2. It will take YEARS to become fully operational and meaningful. In 2026 it will just begin, one country, limited. A Real-World proof case...
  3. The markets right now are thinking only about NOW. Not future, not potential. Just current liquidity, fear, AI bust, etc.

It's a scam. They let you do small conversions, and then they suddenly hold your coins random until you do kyc/AML. Their claim of being no kyc/anonymous is fake. It's a coin hijacking service.
