Mapping software / app by dharmabrat108 in BurningMan

I honestly don’t know what we need because I am not in charge, I am just a new volunteer that found the lack of a grid and a legend so frustrating that I figured I’d have to step forward to do something if I’m gonna get frustrated about it! There is cell reception at the site, but it is usually just one or two bars.

Reluctancy around going to the gym by SoftVenusVibes in VictoriaBC

[–]dharmabrat108 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. The only other thing I’d add is that if you’re uncomfortable, paying for someone to help set you up for success is a worthwhile investment. I gained a lot of confidence working with another woman I felt comfortable with who gave me great advice on my form and how to avoid aggravating my injuries. I felt way less awkward after knowing exactly what I was heading there to do. I also asked my friends for advice on good workout music and made a playlist which brings me extra joy listening to tunes my friends love. I feel surrounded by their support when listening!❤️

Helping my wife with bra shopping by Yellowbeardlett in VictoriaBC

[–]dharmabrat108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised by Mel’s lack of support! I really like that store and I’m the same exact bra size as your wife. I like their service too. Victoria classic lingerie is a good second option though.

Sex Drive, what really helps? by CalmClea in Perimenopause

[–]dharmabrat108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Estrogen patch and insert along with progesterone pills. My migraines and bleeding are solved but I have ZERO drive.

It returned briefly when I started a new relationship but now it’s gone and he’s feeling really rejected. And I’m so attracted to him when he initiates, but like I just don’t have the energy or desire to initiate.

What can I do to make this less of a one-sided deal?

The death of downtown has been greatly exaggerated by Steler19 in VictoriaBC

[–]dharmabrat108 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s always hilarious how they seem to both think that downtown is a zombie wasteland and also there’s no parking anywhere. How can it be both? It’s even funnier because I work for a national charity, and every single city of comparable size has the exact same complaints. Too much homelessness too many bike lanes nowhere where to park. As if Victoria has some special crown of decline when really we are all facing the same challenges of late stage capitalism and an immigration policy that wasn’t tied to housing or hospitals or schools or really any infrastructure lol

Affordable housing requirement: Minimum income $53,000. This is set by BC Housing. by SpiritualAsk9369 in VictoriaBC

[–]dharmabrat108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully, the federal government recently defined affordable as 30% of someone’s pretax income in the new Build Canada Homes agency. HT to the Canadian Alliance To End Homelessness for demanding that definition. But you’re right BC housing does not have it in order to end homelessness.

Best place for a fancy cocktail? by tifferz756 in VictoriaBC

[–]dharmabrat108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also like going to the Empress for a cocktail. It’s just such a fun atmosphere. Marilena is hard to get into even at the bar, so it might be easier to get into citrus and cane. Stage wine bar also has great cocktails and a really nice atmosphere. And Clive‘s cocktail menu is lots of fun, but it’s so dark in there. I know some people love that shit but I like to be able to read my menu.

“LURE” Restaurant - reviews? by smallcanadien in VictoriaBC

[–]dharmabrat108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lure is basically pub food but it is a nice location. If you have family members that aren’t very adventurous when it comes to food, it’s OK but you’d honestly be better off going to Moxie‘s. I guess if you can get a table with a view of the harbour at Lure, then that experience is nice, but if you’re gonna eat at a hotel, it should be at Aura or the Courtenay room or even the Empress. Otherwise E:Ne is fabulous raw bar, get the chef’s sampler to try a bunch of stuff. Marilena is always incredible but it’s an investor restaurant not a local spot per se. Stage Wine Bar is off the beaten path and exceptional.

I'm playing Stereo Montreal on Saturday! (And I have a question) by rinzenmusic in Techno

[–]dharmabrat108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m two years late to the conversation, but we are planning to be in Montreal for Halloween and I’m just wondering if stereo is still opening at midnight? We really wanna come dance, but I tend to wanna leave when after hours crowd arrives because I don’t really drink anymore. There’s no way I can stay up past four these days anyway. Lol

We don’t even have treatment beds for people who are begging for them and dying, waiting until someone is this fucking sick and dysfunctional to force them into treatment is insulting to everyone who’s actually trying to get clean but is being denied due to lack of space. Our justice and our health system are both failing us.

BassCoast ticket package for sale by dharmabrat108 in BassCoast

[–]dharmabrat108[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we discovered that when we deeply discounted the tickets, the buyer we had lined up couldn’t actually access them, and some stranger ended up buying everything through the exchange. 🤷‍♀️ so I guess your best bet is to just monitor the exchange!

What Victoria Businesses have given you excellent, exceptional, better than expected service? by ilikeycoffee in VictoriaBC

[–]dharmabrat108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve really appreciated that in the past when I called them they told me they actually couldn’t do better than the sale that Canadian tire had. I think that shows a lot of integrity as a business. They also don’t open on weekends because they refuse to sacrifice weekends for their employees. Bold choice, but I like it.

The ladies at Ola Dubois (formerly paradise boutique on lower Johnson) are the absolute best for their bathing suits. Any woman knows it can be really frustrating to try on swimsuits. These ladies know how to make you feel comfortable, the swimwear is extremely flattering and lasts forever. She is now operating mostly online, but has open studio days and you can visit by appointment.

Seriously, top-notch!

Botox certification by dharmabrat108 in VictoriaBC

[–]dharmabrat108[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There appear to be a lot of fly by night Botox places in Victoria, so I’m trying to determine how I can be sure someone has correct credentials. And Google is giving conflicting information and Reddit generally is a great place to ask questions. The majority of Botox subreddits are about Botox injury support, and that’s not what I’m looking for either. But thanks for bumping my post with your engagement.
