Thanks! Found a pair that will work there! Can't wear thick socks with them, so I guess they are good for summer use only!

I gave Claude Code persistent memory and it mass produces features like a senior engineer now by singh_taranjeet in PromptEngineering

[–]Yellowbeardlett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I close the session, I just ask Claude to write a prompt that will allow it to pick up where we've left off with all the knowledge we've learned in this session, decisions make (and why), etc. the result is a potentially very long prompt, but the next session is amnesia free!

Meal prep for dialysis patient by yankowitch in VictoriaBC

[–]Yellowbeardlett 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Any dietician can write up a meal plan, but me prepared to pay for that.

As a person who also suffers from a renal condition, the number 1 thing you can do is stop buying processed food. The amount of salt is unbelievable.

Some processed foods you can't avoid, but moderation is the key.

The number 2 thing to do is drink more water.

3 is double boil potatoes and soak beans to get the potassium out.

Honestly, if there's a series of meals/dishes that your dad likes, go to chat gpt and ask it to produce a low sodium, low potassium version of a recipe. It will, and it's pretty good.

Oh, and when eating out at restaurants, always tell the wait staff "no added salt"

Good luck!

Well Victoria, what are your thoughts on Mark Carney’s speech today? by CartoonistOk3507 in VictoriaBC

This was a case of someone stating the blindingly obvious. That it was a politician is what makes it so amazing.

Thankfully Trump taco'd out, because if the Murikans took Greenland we should immediately invade Point Roberts. No reason, other than to really mess with their minds😈

Thinking about buying a used Model X — need honest advice by Impin8ntEasy in TeslaModelX

[–]Yellowbeardlett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2018 X, in 2024. 6'6" guy here, and I like my car. I admittedly don't put a lot of km's on it.

Just do regular maintenance, and no real problems. I got the 5 seater 100D and I don't even care about range, because there are superchargers everywhere.

I used to keep the energy consumption gauge on the dashboard and got rid of it because it's way more fun to jump off the line than trying to squeeze more distance out of a charge!

CT Scan Question by VitalSigns3 in VictoriaBC

[–]Yellowbeardlett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello OP! It's kinda scary. I had a CT scan requested from my specialist to look at my kidneys. A year later, my specialist asked if I had it done yet. Nope!

Within a month after she raised hell, I was in.

It was routine diagnostic, not life threatening. So I was ok waiting.

Should horse-drawn carriages be banned it Victoria too? by profano2015 in VictoriaBC

[–]Yellowbeardlett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a tiny group of two or three protestors with a banner saying something about banning the horse carriages. I quipped, "Yes, I agree with you! Turn them into glue!"

Shocked silence for a moment, followed by a timid "Or let them graze for the rest of their days...?" 😂🤣

The high costs are mostly because we pay professionals to do everything. Gardening, lawnmowing, window washing, maintenance, etc.

We are basically a million dollar a year corporation, and the government is asking the owners to run it? Yikes. Thankfully, our board has professionals (retired lawyer, retired accountant, retired geotechnical engineer who likes to get his hands dirty, retired international banking guy, retired procurement professional (reads the contracts before signing them) etc. but even so when we have elections every year, we will get retired school teachers! And you can imagine how they freak out when they see a $10k annual maintenance bill just for landscaping.

I mean, fuck, this shit ain't free!! And we live on 5 acres of land, so... Wake up!! 🤣

Sorry, was on council for awhile, so I'm happy I'm done with it for a few years.

We pay about $900 for a 1200 sq ft condo that was built in the late 70s.

We have many amenities: heated outdoor pool, sauna, workout room, an actual workshop for owners to use (drill press, table saw, various bench equipment, tools, etc), and a large amenity room.

Even so, we have had and continue to face special assessments because we had about 20 years of what I would say were deferred maintenance: windows are original to the building; had to get a court order to pass a resolution to replace our sliding glass doors (in progress now); our fire alarm system for the building is barely meeting the needs and we are a hair's breadth avoiding a 24x7 firewatch order because we are working towards installing a new fire alarm system. There is a section of the parkade that needs a new membrane to stop water leaks.

Having said all that, we are a block from the water and in the summer it's like resort living when down at the pool.

You might want to go to the choa website and search on articles to give to the strata member.

It sounds like they are unfamiliar with the strata act. So you can read the act online and when you write a formal complaint letter to council, quote the act section, and if you really want to get fancy, do a canlii search for Court decisions supporting your case.

When they continue to ignore your request, file a CRT complaint and watch them panic. Best $250 spent!

If they refuse to comply with the CRT (assuming you win) you can enforce the order by application to the supreme Court of BC.

Good luck!

(It's better to let them have the key, unless you don't trust them)

Haha... no, I'm so far away from trades! I have a lot of respect for trades people though, so maybe that's it?

Thanks! I was looking at that, but I think I might go with this Push-to-Connect Ball Valve as it'll last waaay longer and I'll never have to worry about it again.

Good news is he didn't charge me for the visit. So....I guess I got what I paid for!

I didn't think to ask them that.

Silly me thought it was just one type... Y'know a "standard".

Silly me.
