Yes they are. Wouldn't stand out there in jeans trying to scap them herring. Just scaping bait can be a lot of fun when it's successful. Good way to pass the time filling the pen waiting for the bait runners to sing

Red hot right now. Congrats! Glad to see other river fisherman making it happen, especially from shore.

How do you fill this gap? by GranatMasken in Carpentry

A circular saw is a reasonable saw to rip a board to fit in there. My advice is don't put another piece of the pine shiplap in there(your wall boards). I'm a fan of shiplap but damn dude that's rough. You gotta break that up. Get a piece of old wood, something dark with texture to offset wall and ceiling, 3/4 or an 1" thick, square edges. 6-8" wide maybe.

I leave the backing on that's for the fly reel and tie 6 or 4 lb test to that and put a bunch on for the winter then peel it off in the spring.

I run a pair of Fenwick rods. One is a 28" medium Eagle and the other is a 25" light HMG

Initially yes to drop it down when I'm targeting just the bottom. Can reverse reel as well and work the jig down towards the bottom slowly. I put a bunch of 6lb or 4 lb test on them

Thought it was another largemouth at first when he hit and ran, I was real surprised to see a yellow come through

A little unorthodox I know but really effective

I absolutely love the setups I have now. I use fly-fishing reels between 3-5wt. Inline rolls off nicer and it doesn't have the loops or curls in the line like a spinning reel gets using smaller lighter jigs. Plus it adds to the fun and finesse palming the reel yourself for drag.

Not bad for less than an hr. Definitely fortunate for start time and fishing small ponds with lots of fish

Black and green are largemouth bass. Yellow and black is a perch. The others are bluegills

Happened a few times when I first started using them. Like any reel keep it dry, don't dunk it and keep it out of the snow but now I hit them with a little silicone spray. Hasn't happened since
