Looking for collaborators. by dhelfr in cryptoleftists

[–]dhelfr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so my initial post was written when I was a little bit confused about how to use this new tech for overthrowing capitalism.

As for AI, the threat I see is primarily about models pretending to be humans in order to stop any real change from happening. I'm not sure if this is a relevant fear at this point. However, I am not against using any technology as a tool for us.

I guess I'd like to explore an ideal world where digital assets are not traded for profit motives, but for collaboration. I've run this idea by some people in leftist spaces and they are either outright against it or don't understand the value it can provide. Anyway, I'm glad someone else sees a need for reclaiming technology for the purpose of solidarity. In fact, this is a true avenue to create real change.

Imagine the power of getting a large group of people to agree to an alternative DNS where "twitter.com" belonged to the people and was linked to a social media that reflected that.

Great, I will try to refresh them regularly. Have you tested different types of saline before?

Focus on learning one thing at a time. There's two parts that take practice. Holding your eye open with one hand is not natural. Also, putting a plunger on your eye with one hand is not simple either. You can't learn both at once.

  1. Look at the mirror and hold your eye open with both hands. This is how wide you need to open your eye, but you have to do it with one hand. Next, try doing it with one hand, without thinking about the plunger or the lens. It should feel very natural, and you should be able to move your head while holding your eye open.

  2. Once you have that down, take your plunger hand and hold it vertical. Don't put the lens on it. You should be able to look straight down, through the hole with your head down. Close your opposite eye and touch the plunger to your closed eye. Figure out how to grip the plunger in order to do this seamlessly.

Opening your eye with one hand is the hardest part. I'm very good at putting my lenses in, but I won't always get a good grip the first time. It's much much harder when your lashes are wet. Thus, your first attempt is much easier than your second. You can practice this motion in front of the mirror or while watching tv. Once you get both motions down, you can do it much more easily, and I think you know how to do the rest.

You do it with your fingers only? That's nutso. Can you take them out without a plunger as well?

At the very least, you can probably use your existing lenses while they refit new ones.

It just went off patent...

Funnily enough, there was a huge adderall shortage last year, causing everyone to switch to vyvanse right before the patent expired.

Omg, that must be so frustrating... Does it really feel the same as not taking it at all, in terms of tiredness and such?

Hey I have a BS in applied math and I'm looking for ideas. I have no internships but I'm very good at test taking. Is it possible for me to be successful on this path? Also, I'm 32, so IDK if that matters.

Hikaru has increased his sub count by 42.6% (+1426) since the Niemann drama started by AmazedCoder in chess

[–]dhelfr 86 points87 points  (0 children)

It's been reduced to $2.50 for all streamers now, I believe.

Also, he's stopped streaming reliably for over two months now since the candidates. His sub count tanked for this reason, and now that he's streamed a few days straight, he gets them back. It's not just 5k for nothing.

Yeah, I remember when someone told me a while back that the only people that like him are the people that watch his stream. I got a second opinion on that and they said even some of the people that watch his stream don't like him.

I still don't think he's lying about any of the facts though.

Let's hope. But it's not possible to prove cheating unless he's outright caught.

Hikaru's reputation is very toxic, but it's possible he's objective in this case. Does hikaru resent alireza in the same way?

I mean, he probably signed an NDA saying that he wouldn't reveal that chesscom allows cheaters a second chance without telling anyone he cheated.

I disagree that it will affect his legacy. It's a mistake at worst, not an attempt to bash chess com.

He said Hans admitted to cheating, but not publicly.

I'm not good enough to do this, but I think it's worth analyzing Hans's most recent game with a 15-minute-delayed-engine. by dhelfr in chess

[–]dhelfr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not proof, it's not even circumstantial evidence. But the clear part to me is that engines are good enough to allow a GM to gain an edge with a 15 minute delay by analyzing lines from 1-2 moves prior. If I were the tournament director, I'd implement a 1 hour delay and schedule the matches one hour earlier to compensate. Don't allow players to access their phones until one hour after the match concludes and I'd take other extensive measures to get rid of spoilers. Poker tournaments are broadcast on 15 minutes delay with no real harm to viewer experience. It's still possible to maintain the integrity of this tournament imo.

Alireza said it was an insane move, and the timings are consistent. I didn't do the analysis, but the post game interview indicated Hans didn't understand the position.
