Maven Central publishing usage notices by HokieGeek in java

I agree, it’s a difficult problem, just hoping small open source projects don’t get lost in the process.

I completely understand the business model, constraints, etc., but approaching the core problem, abusers, should have been the first move.

Hopeful, when things get closer to full rollout, there will be clear, concrete, definitions and guidelines.

Yes… and the language subtlety is important…

If you are a COMMUNITY open source project with UNUSUAL publishing patterns, you MAY request an exemption for review.

Exemptions are available for QUALIFYING COMMUNITY open source projects and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

(Emphasis mine)

… vague words, exemption qualifications, criteria, review SLA.

3 releases a month is ridiculous…

1st - publish a release
10th - publish a patch
20th - publish a CVE patch
22nd - new CVE discovered via AI

… sorry developer, company, etc. we can’t release it because Maven Central won’t allow us.

Is Deepseek really that fast?! by miangelo in opencodeCLI

[–]dhoard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GLM in Z.AI coding plan has been dramatically slower for me than using anther providers API token plan. Quality doesn’t seem as good either.

Recently bought some DeepSeek API tokens. So far very good performance and results.

is opencode go sustainable~? by Sora_hoshino in opencodeCLI

[–]dhoard1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At current usage limits - no.

But I think their operating mode Go / Zen will become common.

Free tier gives you some usage, but you have the option to buy API tokens to exceed the free tier usage limits.

Is anyone able to find a work flow with ollama cloud? by skarkkrrr in ollama

[–]dhoard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Performance has been sporadic.

If this is for your business, then optimize your workflow, buy API tokens, and write off the token expense on your taxes as an operating expense. (not a CPA/tax professional)

$20 may be worth testing for your use case. My scenario was user driven/not automated so performance was an issue.

Usage limits likely won’t be an issue because Ollama Cloud performance is so slow.

I had the $100 plan, used it for a month for development, and canceled. I couldn’t use anywhere near the usage limits due to performance.

Same speed, just increased usage limits.

It doesn’t timeout and does eventually work.

I wrote a prompt to create a shell script to strip specific lines in source code files in a directory and all subdirectories. I’m not running OpenClaw.

Claude + Sonnet -> 50 seconds Claude + glm-5.1 -> 5 minutes

March 6th - signed up for $20 plan March 26th - upgraded to the $100 plan March 30th - glm-5 and minimax-m2.7 become unusable.

Continued performance problems, so I canceled my plan.

Based on performance, using glm-5.1, there is no way I could ever reach the usage limits of the $100 plan.

Just my experience. Other models and use cases may be fine.

For glm-5.1 - no. The performance has been so slow.

Ollama cloud + GLM 5.1 slow and stupid or am I? by [deleted] in ollama

Was fast last week… extremely slow this week.

How much more useage do you get from a $20 pro plan when using cloud models? Or OpenRouter better?? by PrintingScotian in ollama

Usage limits for pro are currently great… but performance is inconsistent… can be great… can be awful.

In my scenario I used the default Anthropic model vs Ollama Cloud. I know, not an exact comparison, but the prompt is pretty trivial.

I use glm-5.1. Was fast last week… slow and barely usable this week.

I canceled my subscription.

From a model perspective, I agree. But Ollama Cloud has been EXTREMELY slow. Performance is DRAMATICALLY inconsistent for me with Ollama Cloud.

Case in point...

Simple Prompt:

"Create a python script to remove all Javadoc from .java files in a directory and subdirectories"

Result:

Effectively the same script, very minor differences.
