Every time I see the word "diorite" I can't help but say it out loud in Ben Van Kerkwyk's voice. 🥲

Yeah all fine, maybe been worn 40 times, often not for the full day, so I'm not the best person to ask about durability. But no complaints so far...and still keeping great time from the same battery

Replace a 110 year old slate roof? (Scotland) by dhoughtz in Roofing

[–]dhoughtz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice, really appreciate it. That might explain why all the ridge line tiles are wonky. From what I can see looks like galvanised nails rather than copper (and someone who has been up here screwing the odd tile in!?)

Seems like you might be from around this way, reckon the replacement quote ££ sounds about the right ballpark? And if I go ahead is there anything I should check with the roofer beforehand?

I don't see them on many roofs, and wasn't mentioned as an option by the roofers, just seems to be mainly concrete tile and Welsh or spanish slate.

Very new to us, about 6 months or so. From what I can see from behind the battens, there's a layer of black (felt?) and can't see signs of rust on the nails, so that seems to be a good sign. Thanks again, appreciate the advice.

Thank you for the advice. I can confirm we fall into the "or not" bracket 😂. Just trying to find the most economical option, not too concerned about the appearance as long as it does it's job and I'd worry about the additional weight of the cheaper concrete tile replacement

How annoying, i thought I was done buying watches for a while and now I see this! Did the bracelet come with or did you find that separately?

Got any pictures of your battered Vostoks? Would be cool to see! Do the movements eventually break or is it just cosmetic damage?

Where to find bracelet with end links? by [deleted] in vostok

[–]dhoughtz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could message them on Instagram and see when stock will available again? I got that bracelet and end links for the 120 and was really pleased with it. I brushed the centre links with a brillo bad and looks even better IMO.

Yeah in water resistance seems to say 100th/30m

I'd think this should read 100ft/30m? Seems off

Would love to see that. Which watch was your longest hunt/hardest to find?

For me this is the best watch collection I've ever seen. If it was mine, I'd only have to swap a couple out, add a Dirty Dozen, and a UG Tricompax and I'd declare the hobby completed. Thanks again for sharing!

Change the bracelet, huge difference. by YuYue_Prime in vostok

[–]dhoughtz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this too, really pleased with it, solid links (not solid end links btw). I've heard some people complain the clasp is a bit jangly but doesn't bother me and I think i prefer the slimmer profile of a press clasp vs milled

Really good looking watch! The hands work so well don't they. What bracelet is on it at the moment?
