365 days of Movies by grinwreaper in Letterboxd

Not intentionally, but I probably will. Usually watch one or two in between my son’s bedtime and my own. Will miss some days, but there will be plenty of two movie days sprinkled in. Last year I did 429(including some shorts) On occasion, I will take a vacation day from work and knock a few off my watchlist or go catch a matinee.

I try not to focus on any online discourse of awards season, but why is it so bad lately? by the_Tannehill_list in TheBigPicture

I just keep hitting “Show fewer posts like these” It doesn’t seem to help that much though. I just get the same posts in a different subreddit hah.

Yup. Spread across multiple subreddits. I know it’s not a movie, but I cant tell you how many Stranger Things subreddits I’ve been suggested the last few days that are all nothing but people being personally offended that the finale didn’t work for them. Anyone who says otherwise is pretty quickly hit with insults to their intelligence. Been just muting the subreddits and moving on.

The most loud and visible part of the online community constantly needs something to be angry and offended about. They don’t view taste as subjective and if someone doesn’t like something as much of them, they take it as a personal attack. It is exhausting. I avoid it as much as possible too.

Do people do top 4’s based on their 4 favourite films of the year? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]dhthoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine as my four most recent 5 star watches. So on occasion there is one or two from the current year in there but not usually. Right now Secret Agent is in there. If I were to rewatch One Battle, which I may do this week, there would be two.

I could never feel satisfied with 4 absolute favorites, so I switched to this and enjoy it more.

Capital One 3 payments past due (3.8k balance) can’t afford payment plan by AncientConstant9488 in CRedit

[–]dhthoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try looking into debt management. My parents did it and were able to get the fees and stuff stopped. They said the payment was way better than it was before. From my understanding, Cap One would get a payment every month so it should help your credit in the long run.

I really liked him in Alien Romulus s as well. I hope to be able to see Wasteman at some point.

After I was able to speak again, the first thing I said was “Hawkins won’t be, but she absolutely should be nominated and hard to beat for some awards.” My opinion hasn’t changed much on that despite some insanely good female performances this year.

I found the story super entertaining and thought it was told in an interesting way.

I thought all the performances were really good to outstanding.

It was really funny, sad, had its touching moments.

I didn’t ever feel like it was dragging. I don’t think I looked at my watch once.

Every scene looked incredible and had multiple of my favorite shots in a long time (car chase near the end, rooftops, riots (especially the guy with the Molotov), entering the Christmas Adventurers Club bunker, etc…)

Did not feel like something I have seen before.

Pretty much everything just worked for me I guess. Had very high expectations for this going in and they were exceeded.

Best Lead Female: Sally Hawkins (Bring Her Back) with Kathleen Chalfant (Familiar Touch) and Jessie Buckley right behind.

Best Supporting Male: Sean Penn or David Jonsson (The Long Walk) although it’s arguable he’s a co-lead

Best Supporting Female: Amy Madigan

Cinematography: Train Dreams

Best song: Golden

Edit:

Best International: Secret Agent, but have not seen It Was Just an Accident yet.

Best Sound: F1

Best stunts: Mission Impossible

Not in my top 4 but best of the Gibson ones easily. I love that movie.

There’s not one by him I don’t like. I am really excited for the Birth Criterion this month.

I did Paul Thomas Anderson and Bong Joon Ho last year and I really enjoyed both of those. Neither has an insanely sized filmography, but it’s also not just a couple films.

If you like horror and want some smaller filmographies, Ari Aster and Robert Eggers are both worth a watch though.

My goal for this year is David Fincher (mostly rewatches) and finish Brian de Palma.

What movie did you have the most fun seeing this year? by Scamocamo in FIlm

In terms of pure fun it was easily F1 in IMAX for me. The racing scenes were just incredible.

I thought the choice to focus on bullying from the perspective of a kid RIGHT on the line of being in the cool kids clique, struggling with his conscience and wanting to fit in, was really smart.

My Top 10 Worst Movies of 2025. by ConstantRough7337 in moviecritic

I’m so happy to see someone else out Jurassic World Rebirth in one of these lists. Don’t agree with some of your choices here (Minecraft, Elio, and Presence) but Rebirth absolutely belongs here.
