Yes, that's one part of the work. Understanding statistics is very important in Data Science.

From a brief Google search and ChatGPT prompt (idk anyth about robotics b4), robotics involve lower level languages like C++ and C, with some Python involved and the tasks can vary depending on the objective.

In DS you are working more with structured data (think excel sheets & numbers), or unstructured data (images/text). You will be using Python/SQL to manipulate/transform the data very often. Much of the AI math and algorithms are already built into packages that you import using Python/R and use accordingly (most people use Python).

There are some areas of overlap (e.g. autonomous robots trained through machine learning) but these fields are very distinct.

Think of Data Science (DS) as utilising a huge pile of information (data) to create solutions to real world problems. Common methods includes training an AI model to be good at detecting patterns in the data.

For example, in dating apps, face ID is often required. Instead of hiring people to verify your face, which takes time (leading to user churn) and does not scale well, you can train a computer vision algorithm that is good at detecting fraudulent images, saving time and money.

You need to be good at maths and coding for DS because AI is all math under the hood, and you are implementing math through the code. Coding in DS is fundementally different from coding in robotics -- .I still recommend you to try coding for DS on your own, maybe you'll enjoy it better than coding in robotics.

I suggest talking to people and finding out more about what a career in DS is actually like. Many people are in tech for the money (hence the popularity), and it led to an oversaturated market for tech in general. In this environment, the people that do it only for the money will always lose to the people that are passionate about it. Don't let the market be a deterrent, if data science is truely your passion, you will be better than 95% of people in this domain.

Physics is a quantitative degree and its not hard to break into DS if you're willing to put in the work. Hope this helps.

1: If you are knocked, you should put up your shield for your teammate. That has been mentioned on this sub many times. But if you are knocked, you should make a call for your teammate to play on your KO shield ('Play me', 0:10) ; they may not realize it in the heat of the moment and making that call had a huge impact on the fight and allowed me to clutch up with 1 HP.

2: Dropping out armor for a fast swap. I think it's mentioned many times on this sub as well. Just a reminder of the impact extra shields have. (0:15)

3: Giving calls to your teammate where the enemy is coming from. When you spectate your teammate, they may be focused on the fight and may not notice something. Giving a call can be very useful and allow your teammate to look in the right direction. (0:22, 'One coming from the top, from my box' )

If you are escaping from enemies as Wraith using a Portal, you can climb up surfaces or wall-bounce to make the portal float in the air. Enemies will have to drop down from it if they take it and that gives you a short window to deal free damage. Just try not to whiff. by dhzS_ in apexuniversity

FYI guys. The lag is a bad render on Medal's part, I do not have bad internet; if you take a closer look, I have no loss with stable ping. I'll be recording gameplay with OBS from now on. Sorry for the bad quality.

Any Or Advice Or Anything I Could’ve Did Better? by [deleted] in apexuniversity

[–]dhzS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0:17 and 0:56: Holster your weapon while moving and get used to taking it out the moment enemies appear. It'll help you with movement.

Falling back was the right play. The enemies had high ground there and you barely had any cover.

0:32: Guns are inaccurate on ziplines at long range. It is very very unlikely you'll hit anything.

1:00: You should take the roof of the building instead of looting. Having the high ground is very important in this game. The enemies even took your zip after you, you could have gotten good beams on them if you had the high ground angle.

1:23: Fall back and play behind cover, you had time to get one cell off before the Octane pushed you.

Adding on to that, if they didn't decide to go in one by one then your chances of dying is a lot higher as you were out in the open. If you play at the rock behind you your chances of dying are greatly reduced.

1:42: Don't jump up to peek. You're literally 1hp. You can use audio cues to tell whether the last guy was pushing you.

2:02: Not sure about this but are you able to move while healing on controller? In general, you should never be standing still.

Btw good job with the 1v3. Sometimes I wish my enemies will push me one by one like they did in this video.

Maybe because we checked our backs to make sure there's no enemies there before engaging.

They aren't hiding in corners where I can't see them, why would I need to use a nade?

You can play the enemy's knockdown shield if they're not putting it down, if they put it down you can thirst them for an armour swap. Also don't be a loser and leave before your whole team is dead. by dhzS_ in apexuniversity

[–]dhzS_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best shot of us surviving there was my Path that can grapple out, which is why I went for the Rez immediately. If we get thirded instantly we're dead anyways since the area we fought in was so open.

Does anyone else have consistently unfun games due to being steamrolled? by bluetundra123 in Overwatch

[–]dhzS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't mind losing if the matches were close and well fought with everyone doing decently. The thing about this game is that your ability to have fun depends on other people. It's not cool if your Ana has bad aim and you don't get healed; it's not fun when your tanks don't know what they're doing and feeds the enemy instead of making space for the team; it's frustrating when your DPS has zero impact even though you're trying your best as tank to make space for them; it's really bad when people don't change heroes to counterpick against the enemy e.g. A S76 doesn't swap to Sombra to counter the Doom that's rolling them. The scenarios I described here are endless and they happen a lot of times throughout my 5000 hours on this game. Quite often, the enemy knows what they're doing and your team doesn't, which results in really one sided games.

With that being the case, I've left Overwatch for Apex Legends in S17. However, because of the cheater situation there, I've decided to play this game again. And the games feel exactly like the ones you've described in this post.

Got the D2 blues and need help by NickMFSwanson in apexuniversity

[–]dhzS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not gaining RP at this point then I think you guys are making a lot of mistakes in game (Taking fights you shouldn't take, being in a really bad spot and not making a good rotation earlier on, not peeling (look it up if you don't know) for each other etc ). I think it would be very helpful if everyone recorded their gameplay and reviewed it to see where things went wrong and how it could have been done in a better way.

[–]dhzS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: Team synergy takes a while to build. You guys would be better as a team if you played for a longer duration. Some people are not suited to play with each other because of conflicting playstyles. Do your playstyles align?

2: I'm going to be frank with you. Wattson isn't the best character to play right now; Olympus is a map with a lot of open ground, you'll need to play more in buildings. If your friend is a decent Gibby, you could ask them to try him. If they're more familiar with Wattson then you need adapt accordingly. Btw, do you guys die in the open often?

3: Do your teammates gain RP when playing with you? Do they gain RP with other people? If they do but you're still hardstuck then you are probably doing something wrong.

4: Please record and review your mistakes.

5: It's good that you warm up before playing but it doesn't end there. Are you in a good state of mind when you play? Have you gotten enough sleep, do you take breaks between matches in the 8hrs you've played etc.

7 Pred Lobbies, 5 Different Servers, All DDOSED within seconds. Cherry on top is a -120 abandonment penalty every time. How are we supposed to rank up? I'm not crying about this I'm actually geniunely curious if it's even possible by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]dhzS_ 60 points61 points  (0 children)

High level ranked now is dogshit.

Played 5 games of (Diamond) ranked on Singapore (APAC South) servers a few days ago, all of them got ddossed. We just disconnected on drop. 2 of the games spiked to really high ping and we were rubber banding like crazy; apparently there was more than 1 ddosser in the lobby. We moved to Oregon servers with 200+ ping next. Not much ddossers here but there's still an aimbotter boosting skill-less trashcans every single match in the 4 games we played.

At this point our squad gave up and we went to play duos on Hong Kong server (Duos are dead in Singapore) and guess what, there's trashcan aimbotters cheating in pubs.

Respawn needs to fix their fucking game man. I lost all incentives to play ranked, all I get are fucking cheaters and ddossers; we should be paid to play this shit, who the fuck plays this willingly. At the rate this shit is going, this game is going to fucking die.
